From Twitter:
CodeMonkeyGG Its 10/10/10. Guess what special event that is? That's right, you only need to use '1' and '0' in writing the date. And THAT'S ALL.

So let's get back to game making!

I dont think that they will twit something like that.
Personally, I don't think that twitter is the proper channel to say that there will not be an update
the right channel, if there is any, should be GS forum.
Otherwise, it would show lack of consideration for this so call community...
Its already too bad the feeling of being left out of what was discussed in that meeting for not being able to attend, but not to communicate something in your community to do it somewhere else. That would be ...

Im guessing that it gave away too much, or maybe he made a mistake and the update actually is today?
There was a more direct one as well clearly saying that the update is not today
Peanut Butter and Jelly Time!
I really don't understand.......
I agree. At least a rough ETA. Doesn't have to be "will be released on <insert date>". More like "may be released in <# of weeks>"
Thanks.
twitter is not a wrong place to announce that. But announce that on twitter and not here, that is what I believe is wrong.
But like I said and CodeMonkey confirmed, that was about something else and has nothing to do with the update.
For the rest of us: they did the update already... they updated their homepage.
There you have your update...
Move on...
Create more games...
If they make an update for us in the future, enjoy it, but until then
Continue with your life...
Yep. Gendai is located in Houston.
SPOILERS
Funnily enough, that's the city that gets nuked in Independence Day. (Movie)
END SPOILERS
announcing publicly is nice...
but think announcing to those who have paid and will pay again is nicer...

1) Develop and release software on time
2) Provide customer support
That would be cool
Who announces electronic updates?
I get annoyed when my wife asks when I will get my game finished.
As for #2, providing customer support is something that they have acknowledged as a work in progress. If you recall, they were recently infused with quite a chunk of investment money. That can greatly affect the company's and product's direction.
And looking at the updates on their company page, they are hiring for a bunch of much-needed positions - nothing frivolous. They need people to be tossed right in the middle of the mix (pun intended).
Add the fact that there are many qualified users here who have been designated as Sous-Chefs and Line Cooks. We have been tasked to delve deeper into the inner workings of the GameSalad engine and provide feedback and assistance in the further development of the engine, as well as maintain the forum and help the rest of the community as best as we can.
Hell, even open source BETA apps get more updates than GS, want an example, look at Blender 2.5 (~six weeks a new release)! If GS was not BETA, it would be a different story (six month updates expected).
Very lame way to treat your customers, and that is coming from someone who worked for the largest developers in the world, not just a whining user
You are more than welcome to try all the alternative game development kits. I actually own several of them now, from GameSalad to Game Editor to Torque 2D to Corona, among the other Xcode libraries. I've been on all the boards and the range of support can vary. But, if I'm still here as well as many of the other users and Sous-Chefs, that does count for something.
And we're just getting started. Look at the cash infusion, look at the new people coming onto the scene and to further enhance the engine, look at the Macworld ad, and look what will be coming right around the corner.
you went to the new york meet-up right?

GameSalad will soon have the mother of competition, Game Maker.
