Hi Guys

I'm working on a 2 player local multiplayer game called Spin Dual and I thought it would be fun to share the progress and get some feedback along the way.

I've made a few local multiplayer games that i've never finished because it ended up to be too complex for GS. So now i've come up with a simpler but still cool idea (imo) that could turn into something special.

More coming soon...

Color scheme: My preference goes to number 4 but also like 2 or 3.

    What do you like?

    I like 4! Great stuff!

Colors are too close in hue on 1.
    3. Again the pink and purple (back circles). are close.
    4. Are easiest to read/distinguish.

    Last option. Green and orange.

    But I say 4

    @Braydon_SFX
    @Toque

Yeah also really like 4, thanks guys!

I really like 3. It's distinct, but a good color balance. I find that the red and orange in 4 don't balance well with the purple background.

Looks interesting. Curious to see how the game plays.
I like 3 and 4. Maybe you could have them alternate?

    Best,

@pHghost Yes maybe I like that one better than 4.

I've been searching for the best color scheme for a couple of days now but just can't decide what I like best.

I like the red and orange because it pops and the gameplay is pretty fast paced so it's essential to see who's who but the more i look at it the more i don't like it.

@Two.E What do you mean with alternate them?

Every game, have it so the game randomly picks a colour layout.
You do this by having a game attribute, and simply change it to a random value.
If it is equal to a value of 1 = Green / Pink
If it is equal to a value of 2 = Yellow / Red
This way, the game can have multiply colour schemes.

Just a thought if you are having trouble deciding on one.

@two.e aha, yes i've thought about doing multiple color schemes but for now, to keep it "simple", i'll stick with one color scheme. I can always add them later on.

I've decided to go with 3, like @pHghost said "It's distinct, but a good color balance".

Working on some nice animations when you start a level/round.

I'm using interpolate to create the effect, still a little rough around the edges but it's getting there.
Anybody experimented with animations/effects using interpolate?

Can't figure out why my screen-recording can't export in high resolution so the video is a bit crappy.

    Edit:
    3 phases: players, middle, dots
2 phases: players and middle, dots (0,20 in the video)

  • ToqueToque Posts: 958Member, PRO

Cool. I wonder how two phases would look? The players first. Then the center element and dots at the same time?

  • pHghostpHghost London, UKPosts: 1,990Member

I like the three phase one, though @Toque 's suggestion sounds like it could work well also!

  • ToqueToque Posts: 958Member, PRO

    Yes. I don't like 2 phase.
I wonder how blending the 3 phases together a little to make it fluid. Or players present. Slight lag then fluid through the rest??

I usually play with these things for hours then go back to the one I started with.

None of them looks bad though.
