Suicide Man, development thread

Although it's still really early I thought that I'd share what I'm working on. I'm not going to say anything about game mechanics, but in short the game is about a man trying to commit suicide

I'm only working on this on my time off (and when not drinking beer with my friends

so it'll take a while before this one is finished. I'm estimating some time in the end of summer if everything goes well. I'll try to keep regular updates and will also use this as promotion. By keeping a developer blog (coming later this week hopefully) over at my website, I'll try and build a fan base (with the help of Facebook and Twitter). So we'll see if it works

That's also why I changed my username from Undersky to Fjant Inc. (my company), to tie everything together.

Anyhow, here's a first draft of my title screen.

Edit: Damn, wrong part of the forum and I can't change.

Edit2: And how do I display the image directly? An example instead of the "explainatory" text below would be better...

You can right click on it and say inspect element (Chrome)

i don't think he will have a problem. AdultSwim has had 5 minutes to kill yourself in the app store for awhile now:

Hmm, it seems you can't quote while on a ipad...

@gyroscope, well, the player takes the role to save the man trying to commit suicide. If he dies, then you're game over, much as any game :-) so I'm hoping for it. Worst case scenario would be a name change.

Hi Jon, thanks for info. Wow sort of; so they'll ditch anything to do with drugs or sex but killing yourself is OK... strange world.

It might be accepted, depending on how depressing the game is. Maybe you just need to change the name a bit.

Karoshi hit the appstore, and it's a game where the objective is to kill yourself. It is, however, cartoony.

Something about this one seems a bit darker than 5 mins. to kill yourself by Adult Swim, because the word "Suicide" seems bolder although the Adult Swim one is clearly very harsh too lol

Doesn't hurt to try and submit, and if they reject it, there are other names you could come up with like "Kamikaze Man" or "Destructo-Man" or something like that.

In the beginning of the app, it wouldn't hurt to put a disclaimer on there that says " This game in no way supports or encourages behavior indicated in this game... blah blah yadda yadda"

Thanks for the input. I can assure you that this will be a comical game. The graphics will be cartoonish and cheerful. This title is just a wip and not complete. I'll also do an animated promo which'll show the game from the comical side. But it's always good to get other peoples oppinions. Thanks!

Time for a small update. I started with the protagonist, but didn't like the way he looked... So I started over and this is an early wip of him.
