Interpolate the size and movement and maybe even the transparency.

Here you go, here's a rough example of what FryingBaconStudios was saying, basically Interpolate the size / rotation / transparency.

(the bounce I put at the end could be a lot faster, but that all depends on what kind of effect you are after).

the beginning stamp effect sequence appears to be a flash animation … no individual frames and very few transitional frames

what happens in < 4 seconds
    1. start black … start fade in of: light grey gradient larger than display image with large white circle with interpolating W/H
    2. … alpha to 1 fade-in complete … W/H complete
    3. shadow frame rotated -7° … blue logo very large centered between s and m rotated -7°
(looks like lettering done in Art Text2 … and between s&m is the actual center of the logoWord image)
    4. change shadow to shadow with logo name
    5. interpolation of logo width/height/ down to 110% of final size
    6. begin interpolation of shadow and logo rotation (concurrent)
    7. interpolate logo to final size … maybe just replace with final image

also in QT when viewing a video … click View … Show Clips to see # of images

funny, I just tore this one apart last Sunday for my son! … and, now hope it helps you, Jack!

Well Jack you asked how to do it without animating it so that's how you do it, other than that do it in Motion.
