Ink scape Vs Illustrator

I have got illustrator cs6 and I'm wondering what's better for game design , inkscape or illustrator ?

It all depends on the artist - some like Illustrator and some like Inkscape. Inkscape is free, where Illustrator is not. It's your choice - both are excellent pieces of software that do pretty much the same thing.

Yeah I think it usually comes down to price and if you already own Illustrator and are deciding which to learn from scratch I'd go with Illustrator but only because it's so widely used in the professional world.

I prefer the Photoshop layout more, but I understand that it can't work with vectors.

I am a lot more in tune with photoshop I have been using it for years but for vectors it just doesn't make them look as sharp

    Gotta be illustrator for me...
But it's not the tool it's the artist.

Yeap, it is the artist....but with illustrator the artist is more happy!

Inkscape has come a long way, but it is no Illustrator. Most artists, particularly industry artists will be going with a known and tried suite of tools (a standard for jobs too), not beta-ware (although very cool for free!).

Illustrator all the way. there are some excellent plugins available for it to speed up workflow. of course it all depends on your budget. Inkscape is still an excellent piece of software
