Enhancement to the letterbox function

I was thinking today, and I was thinking of a simple (in my mind) enhancement to the letterbox function that might make converting projects to universal binary apps even easier.

right now when you choose letterbox it uses the default scene background to fill in the gaps. what if you allowed us to choose a default image (per scene) that could be used instead? that way we could put fancy borders, or something nice and static, and not have to worry about converting everything.

just a thought.

Just jumping into this old thread as it sums up what I'd like to do. Does anyone know a way of adjusting only the size of a background image so it could stretch to fill any screen but everything else would remain letterbox..
    Hope I'm making sense.
