What can we do with custom loading wheel?

It's the only one feather that I've been waiting for
and now it has been added, I'm so happy.

It's time to upgrade to Pro.
Thanks GS Team.

upload any 128px image you want and it will spin in place of the existing loading wheel.

Wow! So I'll design my own 128 pixels image.
Just only one image? Or frame by frame animation?
    Thanks.

I never even thought of that! I was browsing stock art sites for some cool loading wheels, but not anymore!

so if we upload a fully transparent image for the loading wheel, there will be no loading wheel? :D, and im guessing this is a pro only feature yes?

@CodeMonster‌ According to the latest release notes, yes it is a pro feature.

And Apple might reject your app if it takes a while to load and there aren't any scene load indicators. Maybe you can flash text that says "Loading..."

If you use text, I think it will rotate, correct?

hahahahahha that would be funny @jamie_c

  • TheGabfatherTheGabfather Member Posts: 633

Yeah I was talking about an Actor displaying the text :)

@zyptek It seems you can't remove the background that GS apply. Yesterday I sent a feature request to the GS team asking if they could make it transparent for us to have complete freedom on loading wheel designs - fingers crossed they'll be able to do this for us...

  • Loading wheel appears with spinning wheel and transparent background. Right?

I wish it appear only spinning wheel only,

Jeez! It's like getting blood from a stone ! In an ideal world we would be able to place the loading wheel wherever we liked, not just in a predetermined corner that might not suit our particular game layout, we would be able to change the size to whatever we liked and the shape would be whatever we liked too and we'd be able to do basic stuff like load in an image sequence . . . . but it's taken (literally) years of requests from the user base to get this far (and even now this [trumpet fanfare] 'feature' [trumpet fanfare] is a Pro feature only). Underwhelming stuff.

Yep, It'll be cool when we can control it totally but I have no probs in the GS team concentrating on bigger issues in the meantime :D :D :D

Agreed, it's not a life-or-death situation - and like you say the GameSalad team have much more important things to direct their magical powers towards, it's just a little bit disheartening sometimes to see the glacial speed at which features appear (3-4 years this has taken), and when they do appear they are can often be a little underwhelming or pointlessly limited in some way - a loading wheel is hardly cutting-edge-revolutionary stuff for the SDK world, but GameSalad's implementation still requires a Pro account and even then you can't change the shape, the size, the background transparency, you can't use image sequences, you can't change the speed of rotation, you can't change the image's position . . .etc etc.

Like I say, no big deal in the grand scheme of things, it's just a little underwhelming.

Loading wheel is nifty, but there is still that lame bounding box around the wheel.

Yeah, I've only been doing this for a year and a couple of months but do feel frustrated with this sometimes. I can't imagine how irritating it must get when waiting 3 or 4 years for something relatively trivial.
The team do seem on a good path now though with a much better engine and the bugs being squashed (I figure this by comparing the latest candidate to the 10.4 build on an iPod Touch). I have fingers crossed for some focus on fixing current Android issues and I can't wait for stuff like plugins and advanced collision shapes etc etc.
I think good times are ahead but some more patience is needed.

Roll on 2016 when I'm sure we'll have fully customisable loading wheels! :)

  • Wish GameSalad remove the spinning wheel and scene to scene no waiting for loading, now a bit longer.

Thant scene to scene load time is all based on your game. if your loading a massive scene its gonna take a little bit. If its a tiny scene with minimal actors it should load nearly instant.

  • I'm in the middle of publishing process.

If i skip " Add Image " into Spinning Wheel, my game will be automatically uses original GameSalad Spinning Wheel?

I'm afraid if i skip it, Spinning wheel will be disappear in my game.

    Thanks.

No, it will use the default loading wheel if nothing is uploaded.

Sweet as implemented and working perfectly - one step closer.

Black background however so I did not see the bounding box - I am sure that can get resolved soon.

Scaling of the actual image is a little interesting too - it shrinks quite a lot on iPhone presumably as it will grow and still look sharp on tablets like iPad etc.

But I am happy :) Thanks!
