Best practices for 0.8.8 graphics?

Hi...any best practices suggestions for 0.8.8 and the iPhone 4? I am doing some iPad stuff but many actor images need to be changed and just are blank?

I get "The Image is too large to use safely in GS"...huh? These are 768 x 1024 pngs? Then GS resizes them to??

If you double click an image in GS, it'll open up in Preview. You can then use the inspector to see how big it is
