The oldest device i have is an iPad 2 running 8.1 and i can't seem to reproduce this. By any chance, are the projects you are testing have ads?

@QASalad and @BlackCloakGS I can confirm that there is a major bug in 0.12.20 "stable" which will crash apps on "iPad mini" (1st gen) and "iPad 2"

It runs great at 60 fps on my iPhone 5S and my iPad2, but if I test it on an ipod 4th gen or iphone 4 the performance is really bad.
