I am not totally sure on this but believe that Apple does zip the file based on the the work around for putting imovie on an ipad one. In a blog I found it says to rename the ipa file to .zip to open

Hi DrGlickert; the largest single image size for iPhone/iPad is 1024 x 1024 pxls; anything larger needs to be tiled (again, no other image to be larger than that max.).

Im not sure , i suggest you make an ad-hoc and send it to one of the forum's member that has an iPad 1 so he can tell you the loading times , and then make your decision .

I've done all possible things to enable landscape mode on iPad.

I'm running 0.94. iPad 2, version 4.3.3. The splash screen only last for a blink of an eye (about 0.5 seconds or less) and then followed by 0.5 seconds of white screen. Then the game starts.
