I'm running my game in the xcode - iPad viewer but I'm getting a very poor frame rate, I just want to record the gameplay to make a promo video but I can't be doing with these low frame rates.

Any idea whats wrong? and how to fix it?

The following hurt FPS A LOT!

    Spawning
    Timers
    Constrains
Too many moving actors in a scene
Trig functions (magnitude, vector to angle, etc.)

I'm not saying to completely avoid these, but try to think of ways to accomplish the same thing without using. If there is no other way, then use it.

    Hey Tollhouse,

Why not record it via GameSalad's preview?

It sounds like you're done. Have you tested on an iPad? Maybe made an adhoc to give to someone that *does* have an iPad in case you don't?

    Hey thanks guys.
QS - yeah I've got an iPad and the game runs perfectly on it.
But I was just trying to make a promo video for it. Frame rate in the iPad viewer is not awful but not as good as the unit so I don't want to show it. Maybe I'll just film the iPad screen, but thats not ideal.

I'll post a new thread with the video once I get something usable.

    Cheers
    Chris.
