    If the features will be the same for the Express as it was for the Indie, then I will be getting a copy tonight (because I'm at work now).

    Will the express have the same features as the Indie? Future features like high score server and the ability to save data? And when?

    Is there still a free version that allows web publishing only? Or do you have to pay to share your games on the website?
  • scitunesscitunes Member, Sous Chef Posts: 4,047
    does this mean a non beta 1.0 release is coming soon?
  • SDMGSDMG Member Posts: 280
    nope... 0.60 first ;)

    I would really like an answer from GS if these items (high game sever and ability to save data) will be in the Express version. I time estimate would also be nice.

    (Shrug) I wish I can be a pro... But just like my rap music, im indie!!! (till i get more money to upgrade.

    @Quantumsheep, DRFT LIVES!!!!

    We still plan to continue adding new features for both Express and Pro.

    @JamesBoucher:
    I can't give a time estimate for any particular feature, but I can confirm that the ability to save is something that will be available for both Express and Pro users.

    @Ktfright - best news! Awesome! :D

    On a related note, I was wondering what the response to Unity going free would be - if this is just a coincidence, then somebody up there likes you lot ;)

    This is awesome, most important development here is the 0.6 release. The memory issues have been overcome so I will be able to release Elerium 115 if I'm confident in the overall performance.

    The upgrade to Pro is nice too - but currently there is nothing really compelling for someone to choose pro over indi apart from a lack of a splash screen and a GetURL function.

    Looking forward to future developments and a compelling reason to go pro over indi?
    (pre built application funtion components perhaps input fields, checkboxes, submit data, wifi - bluetooth connectivity?)

    Yes, soon as I'm approved as Pro I'll be looking forward to what new features are put in!

    An alternative, sort of, might be to put certain features into Pro, then release the features to the Express version after a period of time.

    This would certainly provide a marked difference between the two skus. It would give Pros a head start, and express users would still get the same features - just a little later.

    The danger is that Pro users might feel like they're beta testing features for the express users, and express users might moan that they want the features at the same time!

    Still, something to think about! :)

    A real* email query:

    Quantumsheep: Dear CodeMonkey. All I get is a blank screen.

    CodeMonkey: Have you tried turning your computer on?

    *by 'real' I mean 'made up'. Or it happened in the future. One of those...

    I'll bet Quantumsheep gets "Giddy" when Star Trek runs a Time Travel episode. "Giddy" as in "Been there done that".

    Say Hi to "Q" for me. :)

    I have to admit, seeing the previous indy pricing took the wind out of my sails. I'm definitely going to start digging more aggressively into my game idea so that I can take advantage of the new pricing. I think this is a totally reasonable price point in addition to Apple's.

    Pixel collision would be excellent using an alpha mask.
    Some UI improvements like create a zoomable game scene,
    actor child and parent assigning to create linked sprite chains eg: car with individual wheel suspension dynamics bit like an IK chain in Flash, Max or Maya. Changable directional multiple gravity that can be applied to actors.....

    I could go on and on really....

    More than a 10mb upload would be awesome, I'm all for optimising games but compromising features to squeeze under the limit is just mental!

    Pro developer should be 100mb or something? Now that's a feature worth paying for!
  • superNESsuperNES Member Posts: 166
    To clarify, there is no limit when making an iPhone game. 10MB is recommended, but it is not imposed. We do have a 10MB limit for uploaded web games. We are looking into options, however streaming a 100MB game is not exactly ideal for either us or the player.
