Extra images/audio consuming memory?

If you have extra images or scenes or music or even attributes which are not actually used in the final version of your game are they loaded onto the device anyway? I would assume so. Also do they increase or more possibly even accelerate your overall memory usage when game is being played on a device.

My game is about 11Mb at deploy time. By the third round I am pushing 117K, so I am looking for any and all ways to optimize. Will removing extra cruft actually slow down this consumption or just lower my footprint at starttime?

    I'm not sure they would consume memory, but they will be packaged and contribute to the size of the app.

    It appears that GS scenes load every actor and asset possibly needed for that scene when the scene loads. That's why some scenes take longer to load than others.
