whats the price increase going to be? I have a week working away so might spend the evenings having a look at corona, that or a bottle of corona in the hotel bar!
every corona update has the same amount of improvements as GS has in 10 updates... and they usually have 3 updates by the time Gs has had 1.... MHHH... something is wrong here....

I think this is correct.
They've been too quiet for too long... which means they've given up or they're working on something awesome. Considering that they just got a million dollars, I think it's the latter.
Oh, one more thing, I don't like l coming to the GameSalad forums to read about Corona.
I bought it a week ago, and played around with it. Apart from the lots of thing it has (iphone camera, vibration, save to photo library, time and date, physics implementation such as joints, more body than just rectangle and circle, and those are only a few features from both the corona basic sdk -currently in beta- and the game edition -in alpha-) I found lua (the language required) to be really easy, and I never coded anything. And what's more, it's fast. Performance wise, is another world from Gamesalad.
That said, Gamesalad is a lot easier. Corona is easy, Gamesalad is even more . I'm really impressed by Corona, but I'm really waiting for the new Gamesalad update too.
I'm not suggesting GS users switch...far from it... but at the current pricing Corona is a great addition to your app production toolkit and the two systems sit well together. Rapid prototype and market with GS and then if your product takes off perfect and power up with Corona.

@Photics, This is a forum FOR the community of app developers that happen use GameSalad. It is NOT a forum for Gendai Games...
We have a very unique collection of minds that have interests that reach beyond just GameSalad. I WANT to hear about everyone's game development related interests!
I enjoy talking about other engines (and based on the number of posts on the topic, so do a lot of other people) as it saves me from having to do the boring initial research. If something interests me beyond what is talked about in this forum, then I look into it. ;-)

Of course it's a forum for Gendai Games, as noted by the hyperlink at the bottom of the page.
I think it's cool to compared GameSalad to other programs. But lately, the discussion has drifted away from GameSalad and it's more about the competitors. Today, I read about Corona, some web based software from Finland and how to stop your GameSalad subscription.
This is not a forum for mobile developers. It's a forum about GameSalad.
I could make a website about mobile development.
Basically, I'm feeling the same frustration that is going on in the community. The updates are slow, Pro is too expensive, and competitors are catching up. I'm not surprised by the tone of the latest posts, but it's not exactly healthy for the community.
*SHOCK HORROR* I actually agree with Photics on this one. Although competition is good for us devs, this IS a GameSalad forum and it is a bit "rude" to be championing other devkits... none of which offer the ability to make games without coding.

Wow... it's even more shocking that it's on this topic. The "man in beige" originates from the disagreement in appropriate forum topics.
Anyway, I am seriously considering a website for mobile development. I got a vBulletin license and I'm not sure what to do with it. With all the programs coming out, perhaps it's a good idea to create a mobile development website... and that's where such discussion would be more appropriate and more productive.
Same here If you are still gonna have to program why not just use unity. It's clearly the best.
If i'm gonna have to program i'd rather use an engine capable of an end result like Zombieville over that block piece of crap they always show on corona.
Ill say it every post, if you want easy and functional GS. They are the best. If you want features and have time use unity
anything in the middle just doesnt make sense to me

Exactly, because you get the best of both worlds (drag and drop, minimal programming). In addition it uses C# and Javascript, which are much more popular than LUA.
Sorry for resurrecting this thread but I decided to give it a go. Paid up my $99 for corona and bought a motorola milestone/droid for testing android bits and pieces.
First job is going to be porting over a GS game I have made. The reason for porting is that it's a simple game and I can view all the logic still in GS. The code, while complicated, at least is small and the community seems very good at sharing bits of technical know-how.
Planned learning time to get to a basic level is I hope about a month, I've set myself a target of having something up on the android marketplace by October.
without the bitmap manipulation for making app, without the particle system for making game.
maybe check it later!
The particle system is a bit of a shame, but for me I only have 1 game that really uses particles. Depends what you want to make. Personally I think there might be some 'taptard' money to be made over on android, so that's the aim to start with.
I understand a proper particle system might come with version 3 when it has shader support. I was nice to see on that thread one of the corona design team commenting on the thread repeatedly with the normal people and explaining their plans and how stability is more important first, how refreshing.
I don't see corona replacing GS for me (hell, I might even go pro if it comes down in price). But I see it as the easiest and most cost effective way to put something out on android.

only really interested for the social integration and leaderboards tho. Otherwise gamesalad hasn't limited me.

It's an opinion buddy, deal with it.
