Calm Down People!

Hi guys I have just finished reading a few posts about GS forgetting about us and another one with a list of demands!! I mean seriously I understand that people want more features that puts us on par with XCODE developers, but these posts have made me feel annoyed with the way that the same people keep steering on about these topics.

Ok lets break it down nice and simple yes pause should come back and thanks to Yoda it's certain that it will.

All the features on Giacommo Poppi's (detailed) demand list is what the average XCode PROGRAMMER has available but we are not programmers!!!!! Understand that!!

People have been posting about alternative software but they demand programming code even tho it's cutdown. GS is the only software that allows none programmers (that's u and me) to create games to the level that we have.

Now this has started a trend of community members trying to make a living out if this software and if people don't support the GS by buying express or Pro then GS will go under! It will not be around forever and is only available because Apple hasn't stopped it. Think about what would happen if it shut down tomorrow then what? Enjoy it for what it is and the success that we are having.

It was my intention to have a rant and who am I? Someone who can see the bigger picture.

GS will deliver it's in their intreats for self preservation but until drag and drop becomes available from other venders it's all we none programmers have otherwise you already have Xcode installed USE IT!

Chogie out x

yep, btw i was only gathering a list of everything that it is missing compared to XCode. just raising the awareness :P

I think that many people, including myself are wondering how corona manage to do so much more compared to GS.
  • AppChogieAppChogie Member Posts: 503
It's because corona requires programming and GS have to build an easy interface to make it simple.

Yes Chogie is right, stop complaining, off course if they Update they can make more money, because more people will come (And we will be more happy), but THEY DONT have to, you payed for features that already exit, not the one you want to come in the future.
I Know how to Xcode, I have been programaing for a lot of years, but it is SO SLOW, that I don't want to return there!
So I will stay with GS!
  • giacomopoppigiacomopoppi Member, PRO Posts: 914
@AppChogie yes absolutely, corona does require programming.... but at this point... i think it is worth learning to code! if you pass on to corona you get nearly everything i put on that list before.... and you can publish to androids! (i think :P)
and it still takes less time than to code in xcode...

I'm only saying that GS is slowing down (i mean the whole "project") and that many people are thinking about changing creator because of this.

@ Giacommo Poppi Then you have answered it mate I'm not saying that you couldn't but all the features are available with Corona so go learn it but think how much you just made in one month for dragging and dropping, plus are you going to learn code to make simple ball games with leader boards and facebook connect?

Well said @AppChogie.. Finally some positives to hopefully stop some of the negativity.. Just what I've been waiting for!

    Well said AppChogie.

I'm not considering anything with coding, and I don't think very many really are. People are here for the simplicity... and that comes at a price.

    I agree AppChogie :)

I for one appreciate Gendai's efforts with Gamesalad. It's not easy pushing all these features into their engine, optimizing it, and making it user friendly for non-programmers.

If you're not happy, then learn how to program with xcode, and you'll see just how difficult, and how it sucks the fun out of programming games.

And would people prefer little updates with more consistency, or wait for a massive update with way more features!

Be patient, it will be worth the wait.

    :) lol
I think i might move on to corona in a couple of months... I just don't think gs is powerful enough...
I bet that if Joe or Tshirtbooth ad made their games in corona they would have ended up in the top 100 section.
Users notice instantly if it has been made with GS so they leave terrible reviews...
    :S

Am i the only one who thinks it this way?

If you make good games people will buy them, if you don't want people to know that you made it with GS then go pro and then no loading screen! I for one am not ashamed of GS :-) its not a dirty secret that I am keeping lol

well... im not ashamed of GS either but itunes users are..... And i seriously dont think im going to spend 1999$ on a pro licence :P!!!

And that has nothing to do with the feature list. It is due to all the crapware that comes out of some GS developers because it is so easy to use. Just youtube search for the 'hover escape HD ipad review' to see why. Not that I am bagging this developer but I can imagine the talk that is with that review has been said for many many games people are selling.

The best new feature that could be introduced to stop itunes users being disappointed with GS games would be a quality filter.

It certainly didn't help that it crashed 3 times before they could even test it.....

GS certainly has a reputation which is why I don't want the gamesalad splash screen, but I'm certainly not paying 2K for PRO. They really need to lower the price.

Oh, wow, what a review. They make some valid points, but what *ssh*les they are.

I hate that splash screen. Would like to have an alternative to the 2000$ to remove it.

That reviewer is somewhat of an asshole, but I think that he accurately depicts what someone who spent 3$ on that game would feel like. :p

That's the number one reason I want to get rid of the loading screen! :/

To be honest, that review was only about 10 degrees away from spot on! I laughed pretty much the entire time.

Wow, depressing video. Now I really HATE that logo! Hope MMF2 finishes their xcode exporter real soon (or Gendai gets rid of it, not the best business move to get associated with games like this ).

Unfortunately, They were pretty much spot on in their review (aside from being d**k wads)

Here's their follow-up were they review Gendai's "Flutterby". There are def some funny moments...

  • butterbeanbutterbean Member Posts: 4,315
They're like the guys from the movie Superbad or 40 year old virgin that went on to review games. :)
  • BarkBarkCoBarkBarkCo Member Posts: 1,400
They are a little kinder to scitune's XMB iPad!

I kinda agree with their comments about how a lot of people do buttons. You need to give the user some indication that the button was pressed. Put a change image in the "Touch is pressed rule" and put the action in the "Touch is released" rule.

This seems to be more of an issue with the iPad, since buttons seem to be so big. On everything I've done for iPhone, the buttons are so small you can't see any change because your finger covers it all. Of course, if you have to wait 3 seconds for the next scene to load, that is a consideration.

Yes, the load times really play into the need for an indicator when pushing buttons.

Other games I've played coded in xcode don't necessarily have a graphic indicator, but rather a sound effect. But since the scene loads so quickly, the issue goes unnoticed

for buttons i find a quick change size when touched that changes back when released in conjunction with a sound, then a 0.5 timer before changing scene works well.

Last point on those reviewers, they were pretty critical of angry birds, saying that "it's just bowling with birds and pigs". So you can make decent money after getting a poor review from these guys... ;-)

Haha, so even though they made some valid points, they really are idiots!

Actually, it may not be fair to judge on such, but when I hear people throwing around profanity with such ease, I suspect they have little of substance to say. Rather low class at the least.
