I have been keeping an eye on this game because it went free for a few days and got to #1 then they made it 99c and now it's in the top 25 games....but how?

Is it simply the amount of people telling others?

Is it because it takes apple a few hours to update from free to paid?

I noticed they recently updated so was there marketing plan to make free until the new update came out?

Interesting stuff anyways.

Darren.

Very interesting Darren.... from what I hear from others on Gamesalad, when they made their app free, it killed sales, so perhaps, because this was such a well known game, that they revived it again.

Hoggy was free too, wonder where that stands in the rankings, or maybe it's still free. It's another great puzzle, platformer, and very Nintendo-esque

Is was Openfeint god a short time ago and I think there was a lot a fair bit of publicity over which was best...veggie or fruit :) It is a brilliant two minute time killer...I haven't tried fruit.

I've mentions this before but making a game free can work if it starts a buzz. Being free was probably only part of that buzz but people know the game. I see that team all over the place too I think they are pretty active in marketing as well.
And I know a lot of people associate marketing with buying ads.
I just mean marketing in terms of creating a presence.

a lot o people try to generalize strategies

I e this works or that works. This does or that doesn't b

It's how you work it. Going free is really just a series of impressions. What people do with those impressions is what makes a diff.

My two cents and typos n

    Also open feint can help

My latest game coming out has open feint and there are a lot of cross promotion options you can opt in and supply art for.

They spent a LOT of money advertising it.

What did they advertise through? It seems like it definitely worked.

I think they also used the popularity of Fruit Ninja. Both icons are looking same and the names ... Ninja/Samurai Fruit/Veggie
