Hi, I'm new to GameSalad and games creation in general.

What software(s) would you use to design background scenery and 3D structures?

Major 3 programs in 3d industry are:

    Maya, 3d studio max, Softimage

quite complicated but with unlimited posibilites in creation

Thank you very much for your reply.
Unfortunately only Maya has a Mac OSX version and it's a little much for a beginner skill and wallet.
I was wondering if there were simpler solutions to start creating simple environment (like the game "5 minutes to kill yourself").

I am personally a big user of Cheetah3D... it lacks major high-end power, but it is a breeze to use and gives great looking results fast, and its very cheap for what it can do.

Another interesting program you can use is Second Life. Its free, and there are probably some free textures around you can use. Just find an in world sandbox and build something.

if you are looking for sth free the best solution probably will be Blender. Its very powerfull program (a lot of people in industry use it because of exelent modeling tools)

Google's Sketchup is an awesome and easy 3d app in my opinion. And it's free.
