With the exception of my iphone4, thats how i got all my devices.
i just picked them up dirt cheap and fixed em including the 3gs within a couple weeks of release for like $40
I actually have every generation of iphone and ipod touch and all together cost less then my iphone4

Fixing stuff yourself is a great way to save!!

    Good video!

Even better is to find one with just a couple cracks. You can take the entire screen off with a suction cup :)

How much do new screens run? 20$ - 40$?

I have so much fun tearing apart iPhones. I've repaired and rebuilt all my daughters' iPhone 2G's from scratch from people smashing it and putting it up on CraigsList. Taking apart the glass from the digitizer is tedious, but I've sped up the process with a hot air gun and an exacto knife, the glue a new glass down on it. Done!
