My introduction. Finally took the plunge and bought myself a Mac today, for the sole purpose of using GameSalad... I know, risky right? My main plan is a) Have some fun b) Recoup the cost of my Mac :) Anything past that is just gravy.

So, expect to see me hanging out on the forums from now on! Especially as I get to grips with GS and look to produce my first iphone game!

Thank you guys, I am slowly enjoying this mac. Took me a while to get used to it though! :) I am just playing around with GS now without looking at any tutorials or anything. I have a basic game in mind and I have already got a 'move to' rule set up. My little 10x10 white squares are now all moving to a fixe point!

I planned on an early night tonight (uk time) but I think I might struggle now! MUCH learning to be done! :)

Thanks :) Calling it a night now I think.

Managed to get actors (bad guys) to spawn at random locations along the top of the screen and move to a single point! Guess just goes to show how simple GS is to use! :) Very excited now.

    See you tomorrow!

Less than 24 hours and learnt to have a beginning screen with PLAY which takes you to the main game once clicked.

Main game having bad guys spawn random time intervals, and head towards a certain point. When they get there they disappear and you lose a life. If you 'click' them, they disappear and you gain in score. Once you run out of lives or reach a certain score you go back to the main menu screen :)

Still sooo much to learn! :)

Ahhh! I just played my 'game' on my iphone! :) Took me a few days to install the gamesalad viewer on it. And I say 'game' because it only has 1 working level at the moment and that doesn't even have sound yet ;) but completing the level does take me to my second level ... which isn't finished yet.

Was so good to see it on my phone though! Shiiiny

Although, possibly not so shiny, as about 5 mins afterwards my phone went into 'Temperature: Phone needs to cool down before you can use' and I couldn't do anything with it! Is this common?

    I'd return it

It only lasted a minute or two. The phone wasn't even hot to touch. In fact it was stone cold, unlike when I used it as a satnav for 4 hours...then it was hot to touch but didn't give me any kind of error?

I'll see if it happens again before returning it though.

Hey whatca know I got my first double post maybe that's a sign I need to go get a lottery ticket

Going to revive this post again. My first game is almost finished! (Despite not having a name). I have made all of the levels. I just need to do the graphics for the welcome / level select screens and add some sound effects.

Also need to 'lock' the levels, and add a function where the level gets easier each time you fail it (I already know how to do it).

Basically it has 3 mini games. The first 2 each have 4 levels, you have to complete all 8 in order to play the 3rd mini game...Which I'm kind of addicted too lol, it's a fast paced, screen bashing game! :) God I can't wait to finish it and submit it!

I let a guy at work play on it today, he loved it and said he would totally pay for it. He also gave me the idea of making the levels easier each time you fail it (they are kinda hard, I made them and tested them on PC, then when I came to play it on iPhone it was obvious harder to control the actors on the phone, compared to using arrow keys on the laptop).

    Sorry for long post..excited!

Just wondering, how did you hear about GameSalad? Your username seems familiar to me...
  • GRIDGRID Member Posts: 30
Google search, the username derives from a 'GRID' that I have created with a co-worker made up of images which are iconic to our lives. Such as cartoons from when we were young, toys / games (think Yo-Yos) films, food. You get the idea.

We have around 600 images in it :)

Hmm... Must have been an impostor I'm remembering from another board... ;-)

    Well, welcome!

TSB the water might be warm but its full of sharks and it gets very deep in places, best to know where the rocks are before you take off on a journey.
