In my game, when the ACTOR collides with a TRAP, the ACTOR IS DESTROYED and an IMAGE IS SPAWNED over the trap, which shows the actor caught in a trap. This works great except every once in a while it works but the ACTOR does not die and continues running around with his dead body in a trap as well.

Is there any way around this? Is there a better way to do this? I tried just replacing the image of the trap but the image with the actor caught in a trap is larger and so it gets distorted when I choose that option. Thanks!

well this is just an idea, there would most likely be a better way of doing this, but maybe instead of destroying your actor, you could have it change image instead, into a image showing it in the trap, and maybe then set the attributes so that it doesnt move when it has collided with the trap.

Thanks for your reply. I like your idea but the problem I have with it is: whenever I try and change out the image, the image I replace it with shrinks within the dimensions of the original image because the second image is larger. Is there a way I can change the image without it shrinking within the dimensions of the original image?

i think there is a way.. i havent been using gs long enough tho to know for sure.., lets see, maybe you could constrain the size when the change happens to that of the new image?
