Toucharcade through message and only 4 floaters there. Most_unique is always the main culprit. Perhaps he's one that I messaged. If these guys are going to do this why can't they at least leave me good reviews.
If you want guaranteed protection from hacking...don't give out promos to unknowns.
Promos were designed to be used internally or for review/testing sites...not for the general public. If they are up for grabs by anyone...the hackers are stalking for them.

I guess that's a start but they still have it. Damned if you give codes to get reviews damned if you don't lack of reviews. These guys can always spend the buck and hack it again.
artonskyblue said: Try to think of it this way: because they spent the time to hack it, that means your app is really good!
Nice Theory, but they spent zero time. In fact, they probably did not even run the script (the server did when the kid uploaded the .app from his jailbroken device).
If you release promo codes on toucharcade, your app will be cracked immediately.
If your game is any good, it will be cracked within days.
It has no sense to fight it. Live with it. Be proud of it.
Accuse Apple making developers' life hard in every single moment and allowing a system, where a button click is enough to crack an app.
If you don't want your app being cracked but you still want to spread promo codes, use promo dispenser.
Hackers don'T use it, because they have to work with it and they can't stay anonymous.
btw: Promo Dispenser app is coming in the next weeks for free on appstore (if apple checks with their small brain, what it is about and they don't reject it).
The other thing... how can people trust illegal downloads? If these people don't have the scruples to pay 99¢ for an app, why would people trust them not to install viruses or other harmful software on their devices?
An iPhone can contain highly sensitive material. Maybe people don't realize the risk.
I'm not about to create malicious software... nor do I encourage others to do so. That makes me the bad guy.
Yet, downloading a file straight from Apple - LEGALLY - is not the same as downloading an app illegally. In addition to being immoral, it's opens up the deviant user to an increased risk of downloading malware.
So, to sum up...
It's illegal - do you want to get sued? It's immoral - it's not a good way to encourage developers to make better games It's a software risk - If a PDF was used to jailbreak an iPhone, what do you think an App could do?

My "droid" friends need to run anti-virus software on their Android devices due to all the malware! LOL... And I am not only talking about Pirated software, since Droid is basically an anarchy with no one company checking the apps, people are downloading apps from all kinds of websites and fucking up their phones, getting key loggers, ROFL... Everyone bitched about apple approval for apps, look at the Android mess. Of course if you jailbreak your iPhone and install pirated apps on it, there is a chance the same thing will happen, but you will only propagate it to your friends who also steal.

i went to one of the sites and just happened to say that the copy i got had a virus but they won't know that unless they try it or have tried it. oF course it doesn't unless one of these guys put one in it.

I'll have to give your dispenser a try once my update comes out.

Yep, started getting bad for Android last month. Check this out :P
"A malicious application that can steal cash via phones running Google's Android operating system has been found.' It poses as a media player... http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-10928070

That's how the record companies defeated the mp3 pirate sites...they flooded them with crappy songs or distorted versions of hot songs...about 10 to 1...so the users REALLY had to hunt for complete and clean songs...which made it too much work to bother with...and the interest died out.
But it was a concerted and very organized effort. And cost TONS of money to do. It also costs tons of money to sue the hackers...and that is if you can find them.
If it is so easy to do then why does GS not do something back, give them something to worry about. Or as Apple has said, make it free and rely on Iad, right another good right? I have been making software for a few decades and we have fought and fought this issue, for the most part, people that do buy are not going to steal and these guys or gals who steal it will get something in return someday when they realize that they actually have to make money making code, then they will be the first to scream bloody murder.
Ok! So I submitted an update for Stick Climber on Saturday night bug fix performance and it already went into review. Fastest I've ever had it go last time was 6 days

Look at it as a marketing expense, not lost sales.
It's all over the Internet now like free app reviews and featured apps.

BTW I took a promo code from you and will leave a review soon. I didn't leave a review because I couldn't do it from my iPhone
