Does anyone else here use Plancast?

I just found this about 5 minutes ago and am not exactly sure what it means...

http://plancast.com/p/2ii3?utm_source=twitter.com&utm_medium=planca.st-twitter&utm_campaign=12686

It indicates that it is for October 6th, 2010 (which is TODAY!!) but I haven't seen a sticky or anything. Is anyone in St. Austin that can check this out and report back?

So if I go and use lets say Twitter and announce "HEading to Game Salad release party!", you would think its something to do with Gendai? hehe

LOL! Maybe I'm that desperate. Well here is where you can see the original Tweet:

It's about the 10th one down or so. Is Joshua a regular here on the forums?

I hear ya, but I doubt it has anything to do with Gendai.

I too want to see what is in the new version! In fact, its really the main reason why I am hanging out here.

Ha! Yeah, that's why I'm here. With everyone making comments and guesstimates as to when the next version will be out, I guess I'm even getting anxious for the next version.

I know! That's why I am wondering if Joshua participates on these boards 'cause if he is and he was invited, then I'd like to know why I wasn't!!! LOL!

@ TSB: To the best of my knowledge, there can be only one (sorry for the Highlander reference) and even if you take into account that they put a space between "Game" and "Salad"... uhm, I really would doubt that someone else would come up with that name on their own.

    Magic 8-Ball anyone?

Been refreshing the Twitter search feed for GS related content...

http://twitter.com/#!/Vahn16 quotes "Take away point: GameSalad is Voltron. Spread the word."

    Whatever that means...

But this one definitely indicates that something is going down...

http://twitter.com/#!/mikeschramm which talks about hanging out at the Gamesalad loft party. He even mentions the guy who posted the above tweet.

And finally, the second tweet down from GreenShirtMatt tells #GDConline iPhone devs to join them with GameSalad for free drinks and fun.

    http://twitter.com/#!/GreenShirtMatt

WHAT IS GOING ON? Does anyone live nearby that can check it out!?

    Another twitter refresh...

    http://twitter.com/#!/TallGamer

This one was interesting as he indicates that he is going to a party for 'gamesalad'... but the really interesting thing is that he works for InstantAction Inc.

Know where that links back to?

    www.torquepowered.com

Hmmm... maybe Gendai will merge with InstantAction and become affiliated with Torque...

Could they be the ones that supplied them with an influx of cash?

I'm pretty sure something is going on but I guess it could be something as mundane as them celebrating Canadian Thanksgiving a couple of days early.
  • TymeMasterTymeMaster Member Posts: 527
Oh please no, not Torque! that is the biggest piece of crap around
  • RattleheadRattlehead Member Posts: 485
Yeah, I have a license for that too. Can't say I was overly impressed.

Seems to be a lot of tweets as well about some party.

Hate to break it to everyone reading things into the tweets/launch party stuff.... but....

Its just the Game Developer Conference Online opening night parties that theyre talking about. Its a conference being held in Austin, Texas. Looks like Gendai were one of the many local companies hosting event launch parties that night... (corporate schmoozing)...

So I dont think its anything to do with any big GameSalad announcement as such... and there may be no news coming....

....which is likely the case if theyve now got an office full of developers nursing sore heads and hangovers!

    I think v1.0; too many "big" updates;

"When you download the next version of GameSalad, we want ‘Pause’ functionality to be available. We’re still nailing down design, but we’ve decided that enough is enough and Pause should be a part of the next GameSalad release.

    But, wait! There’s more!

In addition to Pause, we’re working on an entirely refactored scene graph, as well as newly-optimized sound and asset managers. What this means to you, and more importantly to the people playing your games, is a dramatic improvement in performance. We’re talking better frame rates, better memory management, fewer crashes, fewer slowdowns. It’s big box of better.

This is also just the first step in order to facilitate all the really exciting “bells and whistles” we’ll be introducing in the coming months.

You’ll also find a brand new dashboard and portfolio management interface. With this built into the tool, you’ll be able to manage all your GameSalad.com content, as well as access video & text tutorials from within the GameSalad creator."

    In short:

    New Dashboard and Portfolio.
    Managing your www.gamesalad.com content.
Accessing video and text tutorials from GS itself.
New Scene Graph (Which is the UI designer).
    New Sound and Asset managers.
    Pause.
    Performance Upgrades.

It seems that Gandai is rewriting GameSalad from the ground up. Maybe that's why the update is taking so long. "launch-parties" usually indicate a launch, which also supports the v1.0 theory. Why would they hold a "launch" party for another beta update?
