I could see an update but I doubt it will be 1.0. If you look at how long it took to get to this release, I can't see them making the enhancements/fixes required to make it 1.0.
I think it will be 1.0. And maybe, based on last night, there will be an announcement that Game Salad was purchased by Torque. I certainly hope not, but Torque could use a "Mac" like GUI of GS. Unity and UDK blow Torque away, and Garage Games is/was known to have been sold to people who have the worst customer service in the industry.
"based on last night, there will be an announcement that Game Salad was purchased by Torque" What? What happened last night? Can you elaborate please? Thanks

oh @BtT... like that! might even buy iLife 11! think Apple has to do something... and mayhap should have a less convoluted program than xCode that creates the games for their store...
runtimeRevolution is all Apple's old hypercard (the program itself is written in HC)...and new release is LiveCode which is weird to program in as you actually see all the motion you implemented and your changes; and access the gfx by clicking on them while they are in motion! Nice features; fair price; iOS in beta...easy to learn... just don't like the company (with good reasons!)
One thing is for sure, they have the worst community communication I ever saw... I have a better relation with Autodesk witch is known for not giving a !@#$% about their user, I never thought that can be worse than that but Gendai Games proves me wrong... too late now for me to use Unity for the current project but lesson learned!
Call me pessimistic but I see storm clouds brewing... Mergers can go two ways remember, and in many cases it's the little guy that gets swallowed up and forgotten...
imagine you have slogged for years building up a company and when it gets noticed you sell it (or merge it) for a big fat pay check and WOO HOO... you're rich, time to retire, family sorted, time to work on the next big thing! etc etc...
who gives a whoopsie what happens to GS after that, you've taken it as far as it can go... I don't want to believe it, but ...
As much as it pains me in my heart...I'm on the pessimistic bench with Ian.
Speaking from experience : A few years ago, I used to be the IT manager of a telecommunications software house. And we had some great products.
Then...one day...we merged with a bigger American company. They too has some great products that would work in a great synergistic way with ours.
Then.....we were no more. Our products live on.....merged into the code of some bigger products......but none of us survived the merge.
And that, my friends, is how business in the real world works.
All companies have an "exit strategy"...That's the main goal/outcome of a successful business. You build it up and up and up and then sell...and move on to the next one.
Now.. I'm not saying GS are about to carry out their exit strategy....but on the other hand, you don't normally get $1mill from "somewhere", only to have that "someone" just leave you to it.
there was a quote in a yellow post (I paraphrase here) "we have some big announcements to make..."
"Big announcements", is more than likely NOT the fact that the new update is out, but strangely enough, something bigger.
Could be good for us.....could be bad for us...either way, they say it's gonna be big.

I don't see a problem. If GameSalad goes bad, I can start using Unity. For far less than the cost of Pro, I can put hyperlinks, advertisements and basic Game Center support into my apps.

You could start using Unity right now if you wanted... that's the beauty of having choices.

It'd be nice but I can't see it.

Personally, I think GameSalad should be incorporated into iLife '11.
Wouldn't that be a trip?! Right along side GarageBand, iWeb, and GameSalad.
