Gendai Games stated that a big update is on the way. There's huge secrecy around the next update. The Express and Pro subscriptions are no longer available.
Speculation: I think GameSalad is going 1.0 and it will have a new pricing structure. Perhaps Gendai Games is waiting for a cool launch date like 10/10/10... which is 42 in binary. As science-fiction buffs know, that's the answer to the ultimate question in life. Perhaps here, 42 is the answer to the the release date mystery.
One thing that has me questioning is, "why is the GS logo 3D?" Maybe 3D is why this "update" has taken a long time to release. Plus, if this was a regular beta update, why have all this secrecy. (3D would be a huge release)
Photics, yep, the express and pro subscriptions have been replaced with this message:
"We're sorry, the dish you ordered is no longer available.
We're preparing a new dish for you, and it will be available shortly." (Hope it IS shortly)

I don't think GameSalad is going to have major 3D features with the next update. I think the new homepage image looks that way because today's 3D programs make it easier to draw. Although, I'm not sure it was done with a 3D program. It could be vector or Photoshop. The forks, spoons and iOS devices look 2D because they're flat against the screen.

Binary is a computer thing. When I saw 101010 I thought of binary, the language of computers.
As for 42... that's a movie / book thing. Although, I suspect that Gendai Games does enjoy pop culture. ArenaNet put lots of movie references in their game. Perhaps Gendai Games is doing the same... or perhaps I'm looking too deeply into the matter. Launching on a Sunday is odd. Plus, if a cool launch date was the main reason for the delay, then that day would likely be promoted.
Perhaps a financial reason is hindering Gendai Games from discussing the matter publicly. There are some theories floating around here about a merger or an acquisition. The delay could be related to an Apple announcement. Maybe GameSalad is going to become part of iWork. Maybe they're teaming up with another game development company. There's lots of room for speculation.
Why are Chewy and Yoda in New York City? It is nice this time of year, but why travel thousands of miles for a comic book convention - one where they're not exhibiting.?
I don't know, but now I have a new project to work on. I decided to convert The Unofficial GameSalad Textbook to ePub. I'm planning to put the book on the iBookstore, to increase visibility of the book and the software. It's unfortunate that GameSalad doesn't just openly discuss the matter, as it would make it easier for me to promote GameSalad and the textbook.
This is especially true with the pricing of Pro. With advertisement based games (hyperlinks and iAds) I can reach thousands of people in a very short time.
Let's hope when the release comes that the forums do not overload with complaints. I remember the last big update from 0.7.0 when things really Changed and lots of speed increase but lots of things broke.
I think from the rumors and wispers on the net that we will be surprised in whats coming but all I pray for is memory leaks to be fixed. I personally have started to rewrite my game in unity 3D as a 2d space shooter. If the next GS release improves speed then I will release that version otherwise I will continue with unity.
+1 on the memory leak. I'm tired of my high score reverting to a lower score every so often and my timer occasionally forgetting to change an attribute after so many seconds
@Chaser: I'm pretty sure a memory leak wouldn't cause that. That sounds like a logic bug to me. Memory leaks just increase the RAM usage as time goes on.

I'll keep looking into that. I just don't get why a timer would work properly to change an attribute every 9 seconds some 20 something times and all of a sudden it forgets to change that one attribute unless maybe it is forgetting because another timer that is not related took priority over this one.
Edit here is an example for my high score. I open my game maybe 8 times works fine! This time I open my game it partially goes to gamesalad logo then closes. Upon opening it again it shows me a lower high score. I noticed since the last iOS update lots of apps never fully open and I have to tap them again to find the data being an old cache of a page or game score

Love the "42" comment.
