Mobile Development Forum

I've been thinking about starting a mobile development forum. With GameSalad going nuts today, it has increased the need for such a forum.

What name do you like?
So far I'm thinking development.photics.com - a subdomain means that I can start the site quickly. I could also open it up to discussion of other SDKs. So, we wouldn't lose touch.

It could also be photics.com/forums

I could get a domain name, but that would take longer to set up.

Nothing anti-gamesalad... as I'm not mad at them... just disappointed.

It shouldn't just be GameSalad related. Even if everything was perfect here, developers would leave for Unity and Corona and others... what if we could create a community that doesn't depend on the random fluctuation of software development. Photics.com has been around for over a decade. I ran a Guild Wars fansite for almost seven years and that wasn't as cool as mobile development. HA HA.

People seem to like the Photics Forums. I'll start that up.

It can be about Games and Game Development.

Heh... now where did I put that VBulletin login?

Hey, make sure it's compatible with Tapatalk (http://www.tapatalk.com/). I want to buy that app and use forums that use it.

this is great! and wonderfully generous of you!

I cry when I think of the work you did on your book...but life is always about moving on!

The domain isn't going to be THAT important either way; we'll all have it bookmarked I'm sure.

While talking on this subject though, I'd like to be mod :P

I decided to use bbPress... http://photics.com/forum/ ...as that integrates nicely with the main site. (You don't have to register twice to post a comment on the blog.) It should also seem familiar to GameSalad developers, as that's what this website uses.

I'll have to install some nice plugins and set up forums. I'll have to work on a pretty theme too.

I'm planning to experiment with Corona, and I'll probably be active on those forums if I like it, but what happens if they do something stupid... or what if you decide to use Corona and I decide to use Unity. We'd lose touch. Photics.com has been around for over a decade... games and development is the theme of the site. That way, we can stay in touch and have great discussions about games and development.

bbPress is too limiting. I'm going to install vBulletin. That should be a lot nicer.
