Lol I kinda feel bad for GameSalad cause everyones insulting them and leaving them. I think I'm gonna stay and make games and see if it improves, but on the side make some games with corona.
if they dont give me the option of releasing my projects under my own name/apple account by the time my subscription ends, i wont be coming back. ive spent a lot of time on my apps to separate them from the countless rubbish apps that have been uploaded. i would hate to have them grouped with other peoples games regardless of whether they're good or bad.

you will be able to publish under your own up until ur subscription ends, i asked the same question a few hours ago.
im aware, but im hoping they change it so that i have the option to decide how i wish to publish my app. i can understand people not wanting to go through the trouble of creating an apple dev account (and in australia getting an ABN etc) and jsut upload to the gamesalad account, but i think people who are taking it a little more seriously should have the choice to add it to their OWN apple account. if my subscription ends and i dont have that choice, then ill be jumping ship
daniel.robert.campbell said: I'm confused. What the heck are we talking about? Was there some recent news? I'm such an uber noob.
Well, until yesterday, we were all anxiously awaiting the next update with promised improvements. But yesterday we were told that GameSalad is fundamentally changing the way it works with it's users with the introduction of "GameSalad Publisher."
The GS Publisher is exactly what it's name says... GameSalad will now be publishing games produced for the iPhone under the GameSalad brand instead of users publishing under their own name or brand. In exchange for this "service" GameSalad will take a cut of the net profits. You will not have to pay the former yearly subscription costs, but you will have to pay a "small fee" for each game upload.
This will take effect for each user as soon as their current membership subscription runs out.
Now, many of us are very unhappy with this for a variety of reasons. Some object to the profit sharing. But mostly people do not like GS being the brand for their games. It's like we are now making games for GameSalad.
The even bigger issue is the lack of clear communication from GameSalad on the details. Many users are seriously looking for alternatives to produce games at this point. If you look at some of the other threads you will get an idea of the hard feelings about all this.
Sorry you had to come in at such a bad time.

So...does that mean that getting the game on the app store will be easier? Do I need to mess with all the crazy provisioning file stuff and technical jargon? Does that mean GameSalad will now handle all that? Do I still need an Apple account? If I can't publish under my own brand, then I'm not sure why I need one. Of course I'm sure these are all questions that you guys have as well. :-(
I only feel bad for those employees of gendai who also see this for the money grabbing, crappy decision it is. As FMG has said before, he knows many of them to be nice guys.
I know from my work that management often make decisions that stink, but you have to go with it or risk losing your job. I feel for the gendai employees who are sitting in silence having to put up with this or even worse having to act as a mouthpiece for the idiots. It's not everyone who can afford to have principles.

I know this is a very unpopular stance to take but, they really are just trying to make it easier for Joe Shmoe who knows nothing about game development. Although there are some very clear down sides to the new system, like we all have pointed out, I think the move is a helpful one. It may seem really bad now, but if they had started off with this method, it would have been considered fairly generous.
I'm not trying to say that the complaints are not valid. They are very valid and really should be addressed rather than ignored. But lets try and look at how this can strengthen the game development industry overall.

Well, it is their house. However, I have a business relationship with them and they are not communicating with me. I have shown my frustration. But I'm tired.
I think it's the link to your YouTube video they don't want in there. TRUST ME, I completely understand and share everyone's frustration. Just don't !@#$% where you eat. Like The Gap and their stupid logo, GameSalad could turn around and say, "My bad, didn't think it would be this kind of backlash. Should have listened to you more," and then all those insulting posts would seem a little harsh.
You have the right to criticize their idea or direction, but everyone should know when they've crossed the line and start attacking them as a company.
TSB!!! Ease back...its unique times right now. Moderate more agressively later when the fire has died down. Until Gendai shows up...its a free-for all. Let them handle what is extreme and what isn't. Its not your job to defend them.
Just relax a bit. None of this is personal...its just venting to a company that totally jacked up users that wanted to use their software as software...and not a publishing service.
They created this mess...its not yours to tidy up after.

What is with the constant censorship of others posts?
People just found out that the company that they've been supporting throughout months and months of poor communication and few improvements is now trying to impose a massive amount of new restrictions. There may be good news in the future, but people are reacting to the information given.
Phooey. It's like when you watch a rated R film on spike and they say ridiculous fill in words. People are pissed. Let them be pissed. The whole thing will blow over- if people leave or not.
Yeah... He's been pissed for the 2 days. Rightfully so. So come back in a hour and edit the F- bomb out. Don't challenge him in public like you just did. Just be discreet and sweep up. Challenging him up front is more offensive than the F-word.
I personally wouldn't have the energy to moderate this crap...as they created the mess. I'd leave it to GS staff to do it.
Moderate bullies only...not long-time standouts like chosenone that have been loyal fans of GS only to be shafted yesterday.
