Resolution Independence and xy cordinates

Got a quick question about independent resolution..yeah I know it's been beat to death, but this is my first go at it.

I'm converting my iPad game Rodent Rage to iPhone 4, so I've rescaled the images, created a new project at 960x640 with RI checked, changed the camera size to 960x640, I'm going through and repositioning the actors on the scene but for some reason even though I move them around to the new location (the invisible buttons for example), they're not in the spot where I move them to..even If I go in and set the xy to 0....when I preview the game or build it on my iphone...

What's the catch?

no, do not change anything to 960x640

    everything should be at 480x320

the actors, scenes, rules, EVERYTHING, should be designed for 480x320

Only the artwork should be designed for 960x640

The Actors need to be resized to 1/4 size.

Ahhh ok gotcha thanks a lot :) So even the actor's image size should stay the same...only the actualy art is bigger?

the actor resizing is automatic due to the ri switch (depending on how the actors are created, there is a bug)

although I guess it makes no odds but it does save you adjusting all the sizes manually...seems like some of the goodness of RI to me.

    what bug is that?

how is it affected by how the actors are created?

    ...cheers....

if you drop an image onto an already created actor (+ created standard white square) the resizing does not take place, so when you then drop that actor onto your scene it displays twice the size it should, I think this may have caused many of the problems for people over RI, I did post about it but certain 'respected members' ranted on regardless.

If you create your actor by dropping an image into the scene or into a clear space in the actor bay area then your actor will be automatically created at half image size, ie RI is working.

But I still need to go in and adjust the size of all the actors because they're still huge from the iPad size...

    @touchtitlgames,
    did u figured this out?

did u resized and overwrote your images?
what ppi do u have for the iphone/ipod images?
did u adjust size of the actor or the images?
do u have 'stretch' or 'fixed' for ur actors' graphics?
did u just saved ur original ipad to iphone and selected 'resolution independence'?
did u change GS settings like u mentioned, from 960 to 480?

sorry for so many questions, I didn't found any answers when I searched.

any additional tips are welcome ;^)

    Thanks,
    RD

My best advice at this point is to do a search for resolution independence AND wait for the GS update...because it'll be faster.

I don't know if your situation is similar to mine as I'm going from iPad to iphone version.

yeah, I'm also going from ipad to iphone.
I just need to know what ur doing to make this conversion.

I did a search and at the end some people just said "ok, I got it", but they don't say how :(

    My main issue,
I resized my image to from 1024x768 to 960x640 and when I replaced, the old image still remained.

I noticed that 'saving as' iphone moves all your images and leaves the 'editor' screen as the old size (1024x768).

also, dragging and/or creating a new image and bringing to 'scene', doesn't fit 480x320.

    any ideas?
