Howdy Ho Everyone! My name is Daniel and I am new to GameSalad, but I'm kind of an old hat at the game industry.

First things first, I suck at programming. Never wrote a single line of code in my life. And thanks to GameSalad, I can keep it that way. :-)

I have been interested in the industry my whole life, but I started working in the industry in 2004 when I accepted a testing position at Volition(THQ). I worked on a number of games (Saints Row, Red Faction, Company of Heroes, Juiced, The Outfit, Moto GP, WWE, ETC) until mid 2009 when my department was tragically closed and everyone lost their jobs.

Since then I've dabbled in XNA development, iPhone development and game journalism. In the past I've always been let down by team members, forcing me to drop the projects and start over again. But now, thanks to GS, I no longer have to depend on others who lack the same passion I do for game development. YAY!

Hiya, Daniel! Welcome to the forum and to GameSalad. :) I'm relatively new here, as well. I hope you have as much fun working in GameSalad as I do, and I wish you luck with all your current and future endeavors.

Welcome to the forums, Daniel. I worked at THQ during the same time as you; I was on Vigil's Dark Millennium Online team until I left in May.

Looking forward to seeing what you make with GameSalad!

Welcome! I'm sure you will make some great games with GS!
  • Thanks for the welcomes everyone! Nope, I'm not part of the new GS management. :-)

Thanks for the offers for help everyone. They are very much appreciated.

My avatar is one of the sprite zombies I made for a game I was working for XNA. They are not great, but I like to make sprite art. I just need more practice to be honest.

@khakionion: That is awesome! How did you like THQ? Volition was really good to me...THQ was not. :-(

Oh, it was fine. We actually used a handful of tools developed at Volition. Vigil is very much an art-driven studio, there's an intense amount of talent there.
  • I remember our tech tools department talking about work with you guys on some stuff. Being in QA I really did not understand what they heck they were talking about half the time, but they always had nice things to say about you guys at Vigil.
