communication breakdown, it's always the same.....

I think Robert Plant said it best, "Communication Breakdown - Drive me insane!"

I think as Rome is burning that GS would do what it could to put out the fires. To me, the lack of communication is the biggest problem I have. I understand their desire to fix an apparently broken business model. I don't understand how they can turn their developer's worlds upside down, let them leave, what may appear to the developers, as a sinking ship without doing something about it.

To me, it's a complete lack of communication. My apologies for all the metaphors. I feel when GS announced GSD that there were so many questions left unanswered that many developers thought their only alternative was to leave for greener pastures (there I go again). I've seen quite a few posts by TSB saying (and I'm paraphrasing) that things might not be as bad as they seem. This may be true but at the same time, GS has had plenty of time to communicate that to us and they haven't come through.

With Corona now offering 50% off, I'm a lot more tempted to jump ship than I was yesterday. Since they are giving us until 11/1, I really hope we have some answers and a direction by then.

I've jotted down some questions I have for GS and hopefully we'll have some answers in the next few days. Anyone else want to add anything?

- Am I really going to lose my ability to publish game in the App Store as an independent developer with GSD?

- From what I understand, games can't be transferred from one developer to another. If that is correct, how do I update a game after GSD goes into effect and my current GS express license expires?

- If I am developing and GS is publishing, will I have access to sales numbers?

- What are the costs going to be (publishing, royalties / revenue sharing, other)?

- I know this has never been answered but it's more important now than it's ever been.... What does the road map look like? What updates are planned? We have Corona as an option with lots of features. Hopefully we'll have some good ones like Game-center and even pause, soon. How about a universal iPad / iPhone app? I think these are fair questions since things are changing so much.... We need to know what we're getting for our money.

I'm sure I've only scratched the surface but those are a few questions that come to mind. I feel like I need to be "re-sold" on GameSalad. My license expires in a few months and I'd like to have some questions answered, and soon, so I can plan for another year. If GS cares at all about developers, they'll start answering our questions.

Impatiently Waiting,
Chris
