Is GameSalad still going to work

as a proof of concept generator? Without going into Direct publishing and giving up my brand, I am wondering if the basic builder software will still be able to create a pseudo distributable that will work on my iPods and IPad?
I am not interested in the "publishing help" nor am I likely to pay a compile fee to put an app made in GameSalad up on the App Store; but it is pretty good for proof of concept a a quick and dirty mockup... (It'd be even better if it didn't continually crash...)
Will I still be able to do this when the other shoe drops?
Cheers!

I just want to know whether to bother trying to use GS anymore.
I know I will not be using it for uploading to the app store, because:
1) it is chronically missing features, and
2) I don't care for the idea of revenue splitting on a tool, and
3) I do not believe that GS is as reliable as Apple in a fiduciary sense as demonstrated by their lack of transparency in all other issues, and
4) paying for compiles that do not give me back source is a show-stopper.
(I have thought for a long time that it might be worthwhile to pay to get my interpreted XCode source that they use to make app store legal compiles, but so far there is no GS movement in that direction... Too bad because it would be easy to add missing functionality with the source XCode, and it might be what GS could do to make paying for a "compile" of the XML worthwhile...)
Is GS Direct going to be free for all such use? Saving me $99 per year seems to be a good idea, since as is GS was not the sharpest tool in the box...
But it always was a good prototype maker and POC tool at least, will it continue to be?
Cheers
