Only if each new level had a different sort of mechanic that makes it unique... Not just like... "oh man remember level 1 with that bear? THERE'S 2 BEARS NOW!!!"' I want bears with lazers on their heads to attack....
You know what? I'll pay $20 for 1 level with a lazer bear :]
Depends on the calibre of the game really.. If it looked like Rage or epic citadel or was as well done as some of the square enix stuff then yeah I'd easily pay that much. I'd pay that much for something like oblivion too..
I'd even probably pay that for a full 2d Castlevania if it was up to standard. We have to support ambitious projects if we want the platform to get taken seriously by the game industry.
I very much doubt I'd pay $20 for a GS game unless they'd used some amazing ninja skills and completely knocked the ball out of the park..

You need to look at the market you would be entering into.
As a punter, what would make me shell out $20 on your game, over say, Cut the rope at $1??
