How can we boost reviews?

Just like the title says. How can we boost reviews? I'm not looking for good reviews or bad I just need reviews I've noticed that you only get an actual average once you have 5 reviews. I might be wrong but I think that's the amount you need in order to get the average.

we should do something like get a group together of trusted members and we could share promo codes with just each other and review each others games if just had 10 or 15 people

Yeah I Like this, But with Promo Codes, Does it goes Up in the Rank? Or just buying it?

I see your point but maybe some one in the group has 5 apps to review or something plus promos cut out apples 30% and we all still get reviews what your saying is a good idea but we could probably get more people in the group if no one had to pay.

start with a list with promocodes devs, the upgrade the trusted members to payed format
  • SRS777SRS777 Member Posts: 83
your idea is good and I'am open to what ever I just think less people will be interested if they know they will have to pay but right now I think it's more important that we get a group together and a system of contact and so on before we worry about all the details.

I really do think that a group of us in the community reviewing each others games would help us all and give us all a boost and anyone who would be interested in being involved in this just leave me a post on my wall and I will get back to you when we have a proper system set up and let you know more.

    I tried this : http://apprebates.com/publisher

You pay for each reviews, but you're not sure they will be good reviews.
It's not a bad idea but you must believe in your app/game.

Make it free for a few days.. You'll get reviews! ;)
    probably more than 100

I been trying to do that but not everybody jump to leave a review unless they need a review. Just to let you see what I am talking about here are my 2 examples. I gave 30 promos to people from this community and I only received 13 reviews for my first game. For my second app I sent emails to 20 people from this community a week ago and I have only received 5 review from them. So sometimes its a bit frustrating and more when you make deals like: of send me one, I sent you one then you leave review and then the person does not leave you a review.
So this will be awesome is everybody helps. For me this is one the benefits of being in a community, the support that you can get from it. So you can count on me for this because it does not cost me anything to help in this way, but that is just me.
Also just want to let you know that there is no difference between a paid app review and a promo code review.
You can send me your promos at: lordtarantor@yahoo.com

send me a promo LordTarantor and I will leave you a review

I think the best way to do this is to just share promo codes with trusted members of GS if a much smaller group wanted to trade purchases of each others apps they could.

To be honest it can be a little tough getting reviews from people who really are trying to get reviews themselves. I don't even ask this community. I give all my codes out at toucharcade and hope to get a few. In fact i dont even announce games here anymore.
Even when someone does review they just played it for 25 seconds out of coutesy and reviewed. I would rather it go to someone who has time to play it and make a real decision. I have gotten tons of one stars and I respect everyone of them. I dont believe in the term "freetard" either. To me they are just kids who donwloaded a game and thought it sucked lol

I got your emails and i know for sure i left a review on your first game and ill have to double check to see if i got your second one reviewed yet. I review so many games for people its crazy. It was to the point I was having to set aside time (I don't have) everyday to keep up.

Yet when I used to ask for reviews i would get three or four. And at this point I am probably about done reviewing anything except a games I like and buy. I just have a hard time saying no. And i try to be helpful but it gets overwhelming.

You can check your account to see how many reviews you have written too. I have done over 500!! - And those are just butterbean's. (JK)

My point is let's just be realistic. If you have a good game it sells well and you get good reviews.

Count me in! I will trade reviews with anyone, promocodes or not doesn't matter for me.

    I have other idea:
Developer (one of us) asks on the GS forum for the reviews. He offers three ways:
    1. he sends free promo codes for everyone, and each person writes a HONESTLY review.
    2. he sends a free promo code for everyone, and he recived other member free promo code. They write GOOD reviews for eachother.
    3. he sends a free promo for everyone, and pays small fees for GOOD reviews (f.e. 5 USD per good review)

    best review to code ratio

People have to be members and they get the boot if they dont review
Good or bad it is usually somewhat insightful too

Reviews are meaningless because people know most are bogus (done by friends or people giving out codes).
  • FanStudioUKFanStudioUK Member Posts: 459
    Meaningless? :)

What about an app that have 1000 reviews and one with 10?

Don't you think that as more reviews/downloads your app gets stays in Top?

A survey to more than 1000 users says: that Ratings are Very important for the 48% of people. A Little important for 43%, Not Very important to 7% and ONLY 2% don't pay attention to ratings.

I guess thats why you take codes from this site and leave shitty reviews on iTunes. Get a life, please!

There are people that don't care about reviews and others that don't... This is for people who care about them. I am one of them. Also I am not asking for 5 start review, just be honest and write what you think about my app. In my case I do have time for review any app you guys want to send me and I am honest in my reviews but I don't like to leave bad reviews so if the app in my opinion don't deserve 4 or 5 because of glitches or not doing what is supposed to I will contact and tell you why I cant leave a review and then we go from there.
So If you have the time to give some reviews send me an email at lordtarantor@yahoo.com so I can send you a promo code of my app, also feel free to send me your promos

I can't believe, people still asking this here.

I didn't want to say anything, but I can't hold myself back.

I don't understand, why people try to make some "let's help each other"-groups on every forum by 10 people, who then lose motivation after a couple of reviews.

There is iphoneapp-promocodes.com (also known as promodispenser.com), where your app will be reviewed by hundreds of people.

    There are 1300 developers registered.
If you also download other apps and review them and use the site actively as a user, not just go there and try to spam the site with your app and then don't care, then you have the biggest "let's help eachother"-group of the world.

Review to get reviewed. And if you spread the word about it, you get reviewed even quicker.

People who hate me here and boycott the site, are welcomed to do so :-P

For all others: You can try how you want, your best shot is promodispenser.
Of course don't expect much if you have a crappy app.

To be honest, I don't want promo dispenser becoming a gamesalad junkyard.... anyways... try it if you think, your app is any good.

btw our app will be released this week (hopefully) and then we expect a tremendous increase in visits, new users and usage in general.

    cheers

You see, "this is life", some people like Devils felt the need to create this forum to get reviews and other like Hunnenkoenig doesn't feel its necessary in this forum... So hopefully, they agree on disagreeing and don't turn this into a fight.

Because it was asked and answered and discussed thousand times on every forum.

Even here. There are several threads here about this very same topic.

If people would also read the forum, not just spread their own, megaimportant stuff, they would find it.

That's why I didn't want to say anything. I just posted after I saw that there are twenty something replies again...

Ok Hunnen... we heard you... It just seem that you are looking for a moderator job or something...
Down the page GS have a Contact us. You can apply for a moderator position there...

Look below this post after I wrote this. :-P

I don't want to be a moderator. Not here.

If you knew my history here, you would know, I will never ever become a moderator here :-P

None the less, they have sent me an invitation to become a sous chef, which I answered out of curiosity, but never received a reply. :-P

I just posted the above because I am somehow involved in it.
