Would it be a good strategy to put you game free for some hours or one day to go up in ranks and then return to hin normal price?
If it goes up in ranks, next day will be moré visible, then it could have more sales.

It depends on your game genre. If your game is a point&click adventure or other niche game it is best not to put it free.

    Why?

Because, when bunch of teenagers, raised on Quake, Half-Life etc., see your game, and decide to give it a shoot, then your game would get many one/two starts reviews.
    "What the hell it is?!!!1111"
    "This sh*t is a game?!!11"
"OMG, this game is so lame, dude. Don't buy it!!!11"

I didn't say anything about good or bad game. It all depends on your game genre, if it is a niche game or this is a game which can be fun for everyone.

You can have a niche game and awesome reviews, because people who bought it, knew about this game and it's genre (from description), so they also knew what to expect.
