Or you could, with various attributes, create building types or 'blocks' that fit together.
So, to answer your question, yes you can do stuff like that!
A lovely guy called Wayne made a template for a runner type game a while ago, just to prove a point I imagine! It's not available anymore, but someone here may have it and be willing to send it to you if they have it on their hard drive.

Anyway, there are many tutorials here but it's difficult to beggin the production of a game without the certitude who everything's possible like generated levels, GameCenter, without Objective-C skill..? Many interrogations.
