For the past week, I have been negotiating with Utopian Games, and I have bought the full rights to the game jungle bug.
In the next couple of months, I will be adding my own modifications to it, and will be re-submiting it to the app store. I will be adding a story mode to it with a ton of fun levels. I will have a cover flow menu implemented into this game as well, which I am very excited about. I will also be adding a shop where you can buy new backgrounds, power-ups, different colored jungle bugs, etc. Possibly a bunch of mini games in there as well. I will also be waiting for the pause feature to come , as well as leaderboards/gamecenter.
I am very excited, and will be spending a ton of time working with this project in the upcoming months

Ive said it before...that I really like the way youre spending time, effort and money on building up your business... especially for someone so young.
I really think youve got a great future ahead of you, and that you set a great example for others to learn from.
One quick question, can you give me like a ballpark of how much you paid this guys, the reason I'm asking is because I am also going to buy a game from another company and they are telling me to make an offer but I have no idea how much I should say. The game I want to buy even thou its another theme, it has the same complexity level as this one.
Thanks alot and congratulations again
@Steve, the cost will vary depending on many things. Let me tell you one thing though, it is generally not cheap. With this one I pretty much risked it all. UtopianGames is a company that has hit some success recently with a couple of titles, meaning that their time is more valuable and the cost of the game will go up. If I can remember clearly, jungle bug took utopian 2 months to complete, so from that you can tell that this one was not cheap, because 2 months of work is a lot. Me and utopian have decided to keep the cost of jungle big confidential between us two only so unfortunately I cannot tell you the amount I spent, but I can tell you that I am pretty much broke now If you are really interested in the game you should be willing to go into the thousands...

I only have 2GB left on my MacBook, and GS is running very slowly. Before starting on this game, I will have to save up for a new iMac
For now I will just do some more planning for this game and think of new features I can add to it. Will also be studying all of the code within to learn more about how everything works
It's absolutely amazing to be able to look over the project of one of GS's most successful devs.. It's really teaching me a lot of new ways of doing things, and that is one of the main reasons I bought the rights to this game.
Just want to say that I think you did the right move buying that game, you can't win big if you dont risk big right?. I'm sure that you'll have great success in this upcoming project.
Best of luck mate
I'm sure you will turn this into a much better game and give it the love it deserves.
All the best.
Darren.
Later today I will post a small video showing off some of the cool features that you didn't see in the first vid, such as turning into bugzilla, and also setting all of the wood on fire
Some really awesome stuff
I was using a mac mini with only 120gb for a long time.
I picked up a 1tb external the wal*mart for 79.99.
Just keep everything on the external except your current project.
You can even set your external as your default for itunes (under advanced options) so all your music movies and apps save to it as well.
Before I upgraded i had used up almost 800gb on the external and my little mac mini never went over 60gb of space used.
Very handy since macs have relatively small hard drives.
May also be a smart way to go with those new macbook airs and an external since the solid state HD is lightening fast for the OS.
The score only goes up to 150 because this is only for demonstration purposes. Ignore the while background to the side of the game

Enjoy
Was thinking about adding so much cool stuff to it, even retina display. I thought the update would make it easier for me to add a bunch new features, but its starting to complicate things..
We'll have to see. I think I may be leaving this project aside for now..
Sorry about the broken link up there

Edit:I can't find it on the app store, is it on the U.S. store?
would you care to give me some advise regarding selling a game?
The reason I am asking is that I want to focus on making educational games for children BUT, a while ago I've modelled a helicopter and because there is so much lag when working with GS, my creativity kicks in. I can't help it ... ideas just pour out of me!
Anyway, GS is very easy to use and I've shoed a guy a demo with the suggestion that he can take on the project and do with it as he likes.
You've got experience when it comes to selling/buying games ... what should I look out for?
If you want to, we don't have to have this conversation here out in the open .... you can contact me via http://vga-studio.com/blog (anything you type into the contact form will be forwarded to me unless it's spam)
If you're busy and don't want to chat about it, that's OK too
Good luck with the planned additions
