Is my assumption that you can't import fonts correct? If I am wrong, how do you do it? If I am correct, that would be cool if we could. Not that you would GS, but please don't delay release of 0.9.0 just for that.
dotsonj23 said: Thanks. That was helpful. It would be even better if we could just import fonts like you can for open office or word to use in display text attribute.
That would be lovely, but realistically, unlikely.
It's a real shame. All the text has to be displayed as graphics right now - which can only slow things down/clutter things, right?
Even though i am mad about the delay as well, I thought dmcdowell's response was fine. Not like I was asking if it would be in 0.9.0. I took it as personal comment from him/her that it would be sweet in his/her opinion.

Kidding aside, I wouldn't be surprised if using custom embedded fonts turned out the be slower than the current solution.
how about.....
"Yes, we are trying to add custom fonts to version x.x"
or
"we'll add x number of fonts in 0.9"
or
"We have tried it but found this problem ......."
or
"We aren't adding that feature"
