Updating App question. help!

Hey all,
I recently got an iphone app approved and in the app store called Galactic Odyssey.
I wanted to send an update for the app.
I was wondering how saved data works.. if a user of our application is halfway through our game, and then updates the application, is the user's data still saved automatically?
