Well, there's only one step after complaining... that's finding other software. Haven't you noticed the forums moving more slowly lately? I'm thinking that GameSalad is bleeding customers. Even just today I checked out Corona. If I saw support for iAds, I might have been another one to move on. I can't delay projects indefinitely.

I have noticed it, a lot of familiar names have been missing since GS:D was announced. I looked elsewhere, I bought corona last month. I'm still waiting to find out what GS does because it'll be easier to make my next game with.
But this whining has to stop or at least only one post a day, not every 3-6 hours
jonmulcahy said: But this whining has to stop or at least only one post a day, not every 3-6 hours
It's real simple... if you set the 36 hour deadline, and you're not going to make it, let the community know... and then let the community know what the revised schedule is like.
For example, should we expect an update today? If not, at least the GameSalad developers know that they can go outside and play — instead of wearing out the F5 key on their keyboard.
Here's the problem that I see. As GameSalad makes mistakes or runs into more problems, they get more quiet. I don't think that's the solution. Instead, I think there should be more conversation.
I agree, but I've been here long enough to know better unfortunatly. I check a few times a day, but I'm not really expecting anything until dec. I know they are planning on eariler, but I'm not holding my breath, and no one else should be either.
I don't see how 36 hours can turn into December. If it going to do that, they should let the community know. It's not like they're losing sales. They don't even have ordering enabled.
If theyre still having trouble with the new build they should just say.
Lots of people have projects on hold, waiting for the update, and this ongoing attempt from GameSalad at just blagging their way through it is really wearing thin.
Like others have said, they really cant be doing themselves any favors, and its just driving people into the open arms of competing engines.
After the fiasco of this last month or 2, GameSalad really should be pulling out all the stops in trying to rebuild its reputation with the community, but instead its just getting worse.
If you cant get the new build out....then for gods sake at least publish the details of how the new subscription and publishing model is going to work once it is released. Theres absolutely no reason why you shouldnt be able to do that at least.... unless your seriously still buggering about and trying to decide what the plan is.
@Chunky: I understand your frustration, and I agree with the last part of your message, in that GS should give the community details on their publishing model.
An extra few days in waiting for them to get the update out isn't going to make me rethink using Gamesalad as my tool.
I too have 3 games waiting to finish up, and publish, but I"ll hold out for the extra days.
I'd rather them get it right, than rush something, and it have to be fixed, or have a drastic makeover.
tshirtbooth said: 2) If they released it with the bug I found, you would have been pissed.
This... why's it so hard for Gendai Games to post stuff like this?
YodaPollo could say something like, "Mahalo and good news everyone, the internal testing is working better than we had hoped. Tshirtbooth, has recently discovered a significant issue with GameSalad 0.9.0. This has resulted in a delay of the update. The last minute correction has pushed back the update to Friday afternoon. Meanwhile, here's the new pricing plan..."
The post about putting stuff together "piece by piece" was unusual to me?! What does that even mean in computer terms? What's with the secrecy?! It's game software, not weapons-grade plutonium.
Maybe that's why it's so quiet around here. Perhaps the conversation has gone deep underground, hidden in an abandoned missile silo, buried beneath the GameSalad headquarters.
butterbean said: An extra few days in waiting for them to get the update out isn't going to make me rethink using Gamesalad as my tool.
It's not just a three-day delay. There's been this uncertainty about GameSalad that has been building for nearly three months. Coupling the marketing and sales with the release of 0.9.0 is a bad idea. Why are they related? Why is ordering being delayed by the release of an update? That doesn't make any business sense. There are paying customers on the outside, looking for an opportunity to spend money on GameSalad. It's makes no sense to me why such a delay would persist.
You know why I'm frustrated? Promises, promises, and promises.
"No later than Friday". Well, today's Friday, and they delayed it AGAIN, right? (To Tuesday?) (I can understand the bug issue, but LET US KNOW, instead of "having" a Beta tester reveal it!)
("No later" is a promise, whether they know it or not)
@Photics: I understand your point, and I do agree that they should reveal the pricing details whilst the update is being uploaded, but I guess they have their reasons to synch the update with the pricing details.
While I agree it doesn't make sense, I'm seeing the same members still here, waiting in the forums, and hoping that Gamesalad will prove to the tool they want to use.
If people are that frustrated, and they want to use another tool, noone is stopping them.
I personally think it's worth the wait, and I'm sure there were legitimate hiccups that they too, are just as upset over.
Again you tease us QS! Up there in your lofty meadows! Just answer me this (if you dare!!) - Does the new build optimize your game for better performance, especially on older hardware? Com-on - you can tell me
SingleSparq said: Again you tease us QS! Up there in your lofty meadows! Just answer me this (if you dare!!) - Does the new build optimize your game for better performance, especially on older hardware? Com-on - you can tell me
I wish I could!
I honestly didn't try it - because the test builds were arriving as we were finishing Gravitrixx, I didn't want to risk that game having issues with .9 so close to release!
So I used it on older projects that are in the works - and they seem to run better *in the preview mode* - I never installed the GS viewer to test on an actual device as I was still using the older one for Gravitrixx and didn't want to risk it!
So I'm not much help really, despite being in 'lofty meadows' - mainly due to wanting to get a game finished!
Just imagine where the GS engine would be feature wise if they had listened to tshirt and QS when they first were asked about Direct. Think of all the wasted time, energy, and $$$ that went into that misguided decision. Hopefully the GS folks will listen to their best developers/supporters before they try anything like that again. I am wondering how much not being able to get the GS viewer app approved in the App Store played in the decision reversal. That was a critical gamble that didn't pan out. I guess we will never know what really transpired behind the scenes but it sure would make a good book or movie. Maybe the sequel to the Facebook movie ;-) That might actuality offer the path to near term profitability. They could even hand out copies of GS at movie! Long live GS!!! In reality if the software weren't so darn good even as it stands now no one would be hanging around. We really want GS to be successful beyond their wildest dreams because we know how great it is now and how much better it can be in the future. We are pulling for you GS team!!!
The new build is essentially what they promised a while ago with the 'PAUSE' sticky - minus the pause (for now).
How or why people expect loads of new stuff is beyond me. These people will be disappointed, feature wise.
There are a lot of 'under the hood' things though, which means you can use it for a lot longer without it slowing down/crashing.
Which is a good thing.
They've essentially been preparing GS Direct, had to shelve that (at 80% done, probably) and take all that stuff out.
The exciting stuff, and the stuff people will like, will be the new pricing structures. But I'm not giving out spoilers for that
QS
Then it will be a pain aligning actors just the way you want them.
You know why I'm expecting loads of good stuff? Because if nothing new is released with this update, then all this release would be is a fix, nothing more. (which I don't mind, given the major bugs) The last update that was not a fix was months ago.
The simple fact that pause was promised but has been taken out stuns me. The pause feature is like 3D. "3D will be in the next release", yet they pull 3D.
Also, your saying that these new memberships are cheaper? If they are, then WE ALL got ripped off.
I dont know if you all has been following every post over here but I have as much as I cant. And some times you pick up things here and there that help you put things together. Thats all you can do with this kind of costumer service. A couple of days tshirt wanted to have some beta testers for his game because, as he said, he was not going to keep waiting for GS update. Today he just mentioned that he is been testing GS 9 and he found a bug that GS its fixing. So I have a question for tshirt: since when have you been beta testing this update? Since you were decided not to wait for the release after beta testing this amazing update, does this means that it is not as amazing as you thought or your games didn't need it or what? I just cant see it. Are they just to sure that the people will stay here and not go some were else? We have a friend from this forum that just released a game with another tool. Yes when the original announcement, a lot of us when to corona and some look trough it harder than others. Peach has a game already. Probably here days here are counted. But GS is confident that the lua is going to scare the people and they are going to stay here. God forbids the day that GS get a real competitor. A program that its similar (Must Drag and drop). That day the might give a better costumer service, the day that they think that people have easier or very similar choice. If you have been following this forums for the last 3 months you might notice that the atmosphere has changed from a positive and enthusiastic community to what it is today. Some of you say: hey what is a couple of days of waiting.- You don't know how many days of waiting are left. You only have Yodapollos Words... that has been telling us next week, next 36 hours and the constant, how exited everybody else is at GS. But they were exited when the GS Direct announcement too... Just a constant communication will solve all this, but they just don't get this yet. Real communication a mean. Not the stupid 10 question Idea that has nothing to do with the matter... (Can I go to visit you at texas) really??? That million dollars that you got you should put it in costumer service and hire people who have a clue...
,Why do we all, (me included) spend so much time asking, reading and complaining about the new pending release when we could spend that time designing (in a sketchbook) and making games with the software we currently have (accepting the annoying slow down after 10 minutes use)....
We know the update will come eventually.
We know what to expect, (performance improvements)
We are intrigued about the new pricing structure, but it wont actually affect the games you want to make directly as we know its going to be a good deal (going by feedback and hints already out there).
So in the words of all the Monty Python cast in the Holy Grail...
No. I don't. Which, if they're cheaper, is basically what is happening.
Pay $99 >> GS Cancels Auto-Renewal >> Introduces Cheaper Memberships. I don't mind paying the cheaper (if they are) prices, but I'm paying for something I paid $99 for.

Surely it's part and parcel of the business world, iDeveloper? I can think of at least twice when I've bought an Apple computer, for instance, and three months down the line, not only have they brought out another better version with more features, but for cheaper than I bought. It's just the way it is, I think.
iDeveloper Just speculation but i would think you would get what you paid for at $99 (till renewal date) then the renewal would have the new price, hence no rip-off.
Wait... Are we really complaining if it was made cheaper?
