Chuzlies! - Feedback Wanted Please

So here is my new game... Chuzlies!

Chuzlies is a physics based puzzle game where you must tap to remove obstacles so your Chuzlie can land on the set platforms successfully. You are not required to remove all the obstacles, just as many as you need to guide your Chuzlie to safety.

I have all the game mechanics done and 3 levels completed so far. There will be 30 levels in total, each requiring a different amount of Chuzlies to save to progress.

Each level will also have its own theme. The theme shown is from the first stage which is a pirate themed level with a pirate Chuzlie. There will be 10 themes in total, with Chuzlies such as army, ninja, chef etc.

So before I go nuts and finish the other 27 levels.... I just want some feedback on how you think the game looks, how it plays and if it needs something else ?

Please be as honest as possible because I have high hopes for this one and for once, I am getting feedback while the game is in development so I can make any required gameplay changes, as opposed to my usual stance of getting feedback when the game is done lol.

Thank you in advance for any feedback :)

It's cool, but isn't the pirate character the same one from peachpellen's tower app (http://gamesalad.com/ontheappstore/castle-climber)? I'd recommend changing it. I hope you aren't using the music from the trailer in the app either :P

Some of the graphics were made in house, others are public domain. So I will keep them :)

And na haha, can't use that music lol :)

Just my 2 cents, the game looks kind of boring and the same as other games like it. there is nothing special about the pirate, you should make it so that he does not land on his side, easy to fix. Add a time element to it and then have the pirate ship start shooting cannon balls at the puzzle it might help it might hurt, his mates on the ship need him back. the character is not an avatar that you are going to relate to or adopt, he does nothing cute. Pirates say things like arrgggh, and matey and all that pirate stuff. remember sound is 50% of any game, so sounds will be important, check out other games like this where the main character makes some fun sounds, very important and easy to do.
Chuzlies is it about those or pirates, I have never seen a chuzlie so you might think about the name, use the word pirate, its a good word with lots of history. If you are going to introduce a chuzlie, then you have to create the character and make us relate to it.
Sorry, but sometimes what people say seems to be mean, I am just trying to help, and of course you can ignore all my comments anyway.
Finally when things do happen, tweak the physics a bit its too straight line you are using simple numbers for reactions, you have to make the physics of the pirate more fun, now its just hit, destroy, hit destroy, give the other objects some character, turn them into goo or make them explode, give the eye some candy to enjoy.

Isn't that the ghosts from Pac man? - yeah its not easy coming up with a simple, cute original character at times but it will add more if you do. If your going to call it Chuzlies - add a tag line to it as well like "Chuzlies - Pirate Parade" or such to keep it in context of the game style.

    Hi.

It's not all pirates lol. Read the first post again please :)

There are going to be 10 different chuzlies all with different themes.

    Thanks

It looks like you're making good progress. One suggestion or maybe it's more of a question. Do you need to have the "Checking..." appear before you beat the level? For me that seems to slow the game down a bit, it's like having a loading screen in the middle of a level. If you could figure out how to make that more seamless I think it would help the flow of the game.

I could remove it i guess.

It's used to make sure none of the remaining obstacles knock you off whilst you are on the platforms.

I could disable objects from colliding with you when you successfully land on the platform that could remove the need for the checking behavior.

    What do you think ?

Oh I see why you did that now. Maybe you could just tweak it a little to countdown from 3 seconds so you know your Chuzlie has to stay on the pad for 3 seconds?

Yeah thats an idea :) It does currently show the "..." in an animated fashion rather than static so you can see its working. I could try the 3, 2, 1 idea also.

    Thanks for the feedback :)
