BASIC Vs PRO

Just want to check as i'm not finding all this very clear

The new Basic and PRO memberships are now the same, both will display the GS splash screen so the only benefits of PRO are:

1. iAds Functionality
2. URL Promotional Links
3. Priority Tech Support

Although I found reference to this:
Pro - allowing you to customize branding and URLs forwarding. Other Pro features like support for custom networking (read:custom), advanced analytics, and framework support are forthcoming.

Also with the BASIC and PRO versions do I have the ability to publish my apps through my own Apple Dev account?

What is this GameSalad Membership Program?

GameSalad Membership Program contains 2 levels: basic and pro, just as you wrote in your post.

What you are writing about pro benefits is correct.

As I understand it you can now publish through your own Apple Dev account even if you have basic membership.

I'm happy to pay the $99 legacy upgrade to get the Pro features:
    1. iAds Functionality
    2. URL Promotional Links
    3. Priority Tech Support

But just think $499 is a bit expensive for these features compared to the Basic Free version?

@Yoga, who are you? You joined GS two days ago, yet you know so much about it..Kinda suspicious if you ask me. It seems as if your a GS employee in disguise...

Where is this stealth GameSalad employee thing coming from?

The words, "As I understand it" doesn't suggest inside knowledge. It just seems like Yogamatta read the website.

I'm not so sure... Yoga.... Yoda... I think they may be the same!!

On a more serious note, can we stop speculating that GS staff is making alts to post, that is just absurd. Don't you think that if they were going to do that, that they would change the join date to something more than 2 days??? I would set it at like 1 year if I were going to post on an alt.

No, m8. I'm just a smart guy. Thanks thou. :)

And besides, I wouldn't be so disappointed by the whole splash screen thingy if I worked for GS, right?

Im not too sure if someone joining two days ago would be able to navigate the site too well.

And some of the things yoga said above was said with such confidence:

"What you are writing about pro benefits is correct."
"GameSalad Membership Program contains 2 levels: basic and pro, just as you wrote in your post."

they did say that there will be more features added to pro over the next few releases.

this is only my opinion, but i think things like gamecenter, in app purchase, playing videos.

those would be good pro options to really entice people to upgrade. there's no reason to give those away in the free version.

it's not that complicated, they have a faq linked right from the main page.

What are the benefits of priority tech support?
What type of help do they provide?
  • jonmulcahyjonmulcahy Member, Sous Chef Posts: 10,408
i would imagine you would be able to submit your game for them to look at.

Maybe just the fact that you will jump the queue to email questions - sometimes they could take weeks to respond!

Hi Boki if you are an existing Express member then, you can either stay as you are, and once your express membership expires you can drop down to the BASIC version for free or take up the PRO for $499 - or you have until 31st December to upgrade your current EXPRESS account to a Pro for a whole new year for only $99.

My Express membership expires at the end of January, so I'll make the jump to PRO for $99 near the 31st Dec deadline.

Something that's a bit troubling to me is that there's no 'opt out' of the .9.0 update.

If you choose not to update, but still wish to publish a game, it sends you in an endless loop where your three options are to 'Cancel', 'Learn More', or 'Join Now'.

It would seem that's in breech of the contract/membership I/we agreed upon.

I'm not going to raise a stink about it any further than this, but with some of the complications I've read about from other members, I'm a little leery about updating. I can't seem to get a frame rate over 30 on any device other than an iPhone4 these days. I wish for it not to get any worse.

I want to continue using the software so I plan to update, but if there's proven to be issues found, I hope there's quick fixes planned.

Will tech support help you work through "issues" or suggest ways of performing a task?

Really what "support" do they provide?
  • JGary321JGary321 Member Posts: 1,246
I can tell you from the standpoint of a Pro User that I have NEVER had trouble getting in contact with them. They have helped me several times. If they can't help you figure it out by email then they have offered to take a look at my game file. That is why it is important to label everything appropriately. Response time the few times I have used it was that I got an initial reply within 24 hours. I am only speaking from my own personal experiences. Other Pro users can give you their opinion.

That being said, $500 is not worth the technical support of course, that would just be an added perk. I am guessing most BIG features like GameCenter & stuff will be Pro only. I also speculate that people will complain that free software won't include the BEST features, but it is what it is.
