Can someone from GS please respond? Or email me at artonskyblue@gmail(dot)com

    I am furious right now......

I thought this update was going to speed everything up for my game but it did the exact opposite

So far you are the only person I have heard this from, ever. Are you on 10.5? Anything special about your computer setup? Have you tried reinstalling? If you have, you might want to submit a CS ticket.

I can't say that I've had any slowdown during my testing. Everything appeared fine with my games.

Im on 10.6.3, and nothings wrong with my comp. Personally, I don't think re-installing will help but ill give it a go.

    Yup, as expected same results...

Since it has an endless gameplay, the RAM is even increasing, in 0.8 the RAM just stayed constant at a very low number. This is ridiculous, I thought this would help my project tremendously. Sorry if im sounding a bit mean, but I literally spend every bit of my money on this game, just to see it falling apart like this.

I never know what to expect from you guys...

Nope, and graphics are sized to the minimum

Tshitbooth have you published something for the iPhone yet? I can publish to the mac, but when I try for the iPhone nothing happens. I was trying to publish with a distribution profile for the app store.

im pretty sure they said in another thread there was a problem with this and they were working on it

    Its definitely the right viewer.

RAM has almost doubled. And since i have endless gameplay, and RAM is increasing, it will eventually crash. Before I was very secure at a RAM of 20MB and stayed constant at that no matter how far into the game I went.

    This is really devastating me.....

P.S. How could I not be using the right viewer??? GS 0.9 is only compatible with the 0.9 viewer isnt it?

youd be surprised at how many people try to use the older viewer when a new release comes out.

Um sorry but can you stop coming into threads asking random questions that have nothing to do with the original topic of the thread? Kind of rude...

I'm wondering if if might be prudent to actually rebuild your app in .9beta as opposed to just reusing the .89 version of your build???

I know that's what I'm about to do. I'm sure I'll iron out some of my previous isssues too by rebuilding, now I have some real programming knowledge thanks to Corona :)

And btw, Thanks guys for the upgrade offer which I have accepted and taken. I think it will do alot to repair the damage that was done over the last month or so.

I for one now have a couple of options as far as app build goes now with Corona and GS as my toolkit. I even ventured doqwn the path of COCOs and had some slow (dev Time) but successful results with that too..

I can definately use this model for getting out my quick and dirty games, so from me, being one of the most vocal of the protesters again thank you for this model which I believe will be workable for me.

    Cheers

Sorry, didn't mean to hijack this thread in anyway. My apologies. Guess I was just frustrated that there is now answer for why I can't even publish. Just started a new thread on that so I will keep my comments there.

So hey, I like Costco. Have you ever been there? They have great food. It makes me hungry. Are you hungry? I think I'm hungry. Maybe I should have a snack. What do you think? Should I have a snack? If so, which snack should I have?

Heh... and as for 0.9.0 being a big memory and performance improvement... I'm not seeing it. I tested it out... my games don't seem to be worse, but they don't seem to be better either.

    @TSB, tried that, same results.

The strange thing is, every time I preview it on my device, I get different results. One time it may start at 22MB and then increase all the way up to 27MB within 2 minutes. Another time it may start at 27MB and go up to 35MB a few minutes later. Very strange...

    2) when it loads it only loads the images for the first scene rather then all your images like before.

Heh, that might be the reason why I'm not seeing an improvement with Annoyed Tomatoes. My first scene has 3D-rendered animation and it's also the first level. Heh, Commove probably won't improve much either. It's all one scene.

@Tshirt, just tried that. The game started at 21MB. After 10 minutes of playing I lost and it was at 28-29MB. It reached 28-29MB around 5 minutes after I started playing, and then stayed constant during the other 5 minutes till I died. Im not too sure if it would have increased if I kept on playing. Remember though, I have a 4th gen device so its not too good of a test..

But really, this isn't the point at all. The point is, isn't GS 0.9 supposed to decrease my RAM? From 0.8 the RAM has gotten up by 8MB. I was expecting to see some major improvements.

@Arton: That is very strange, most of my games have really improved in terms of ram, and load times.

How much longer is it taking to load in comparison to 0.89?

I wonder if it's just specific to that app, have you tried another game with 0.9 to test it out? Try it.
  • expired_012expired_012 Member Posts: 1,802
@BB, yeah i think it is only this game that is getting difficulties. Also scenes are taking longer to load now.

Can someone open a blank project, preview on device viewer as is, and tell me the RAM there? Mine is 11.4MB, just wanna compare it to other people
  • expired_012expired_012 Member Posts: 1,802
@Tshirt, right now im not too concerned about it crashing or not. Im more concerned about why such a thing is happening to me, and finding the source of the problem. I understand that at one point the RAM may stop increasing and drop. The issue here though is that before I would be running the same exact game, with faster load times, staying at a solid 20MB and not changing at all. It didn't matter how long I played, it always stayed the same. GS 0.9 was supposed to improve my game, but it really did nothing, it just made it worse.

About an hour ago, a blank scene for me was 18.9MB. GS has being acting really strange with me!

I'm not that experienced with GS yet, and so I don't know if it's 0.9's fault or not, but I didn't notice it in 0.8... I'm building a platform game and have right now two types of platforms: One 100% solid and one that you can jump through from below and land on. If I preview the scene, after a while (30 secs perhaps?) if I walk around on my semi-solid platforms, my actor jitters up and down a pixel. Even if I stand still. It doesn't start right away though, just after some time.
