Screen Orientation clarification

So I've read multiple times that apple requires you to have auto-rotation work for apps. Is this true of games as well? I'm trying to make a game that uses orientation to change the gameplay but doesn't auto-rotate the screen, am I doomed right from the start? do I need to rethink my game design?

Im still having auto rotation issues. even with both boxes checked. oddly the issue is only happening when the game was built for vertical play, and only happening on the iPhone and iPod touch. Im starting to get support emails like mad for my zombie bubbles game.

theres no way for me to re-create the issues. it just happens at random that the screen will flip. and will never flip back.

I also wanted to note that i dont get this issue on the iPhone 4, only iphone 3GS, ipod touch "all generations, and iphone 3G

I have a problem with the auto-rotation and you know that Apple is very drastic regarding this issue. So, what happens is that when the device is orientated with the home button towards right, at launch, the GS logo rotates from upside down to the correct position but then my logo rotates from the correct position to upside down and stays like this and all the other scenes remains like this until I rotate the phone. After I rotate it everything works normal, it's just the first time it gets stuck upside down. I would really appreciate your help as I'm in a hurry to resubmit the app after it was rejected by apple because it took too long to launch (this is another issue).
    Thank you,
    Adrian

Ok, am I the only one having this issue?
I think is very serious since apple rejects app because of this.

I can only test on iPhone 3GS with iOS GM 4.2.1
And it looks that sometimes, the first time I open the app everything works fine but after I close it (from the task manager as well) and I reopen it doesn't work as it should.
