Device connecting to itunes Issue

Sometimes when I connect my device to my computer, it doesn't show up on itunes. Usually when this happens I just delete itunes and re-install it, and then it works for the first time but then when I plug it in a second time it doesn't show up anymore. Anyone know how i can fix this? Its been getting really annoying to keep on re-installing itunes

    well... my device has an unusually long delay before it shows up... but then I have auto syncing turned off... cause I don't want iTunes opening every time I plug in... so I plug in and open iTunes and do something else like read mail!

    just giving you a bump... ;D
