I will be releasing a new kids game for the ipad and I was wondering if you all liked the screen above for the itunes store image.... I will be including more animals (obviously) but I wanted some opinions before I did 5 other screens the same way.

If you were to change anything, what would it be? Thanks everyone!

    weird!

if you quote it... it comes up enclosed in an <a HyperREFerence !!!

    but, lovely giraffe!

only thing I found a little jarring was the colors in the banner...
I think I would have the bg of banner yellow and the font color green... instead of white & red... sorta standout but harmonize!

    Hi,

I'm new to game salad but I have a background in graphic design. It looks good so far, but its not colorful enough for a kids game. Remember, there are 100's of kids apps on itunes and they all begin to look the same with the same simple shapes as the characters. If you plan on making a free kids app, then this look will be fine. If you plan to sell it for over $0.99, use more colors.

Here are some tips that may help you:

-I would put a more colorful background rather than the chalkboard. Get rid of the tan boarder and just let the picture go to the edge.

-Add what the game is about in the title. I just looked at a kids app named "Elmo's Monster maker". I bet you can guess what this game is about? The title tells the potential buyer what the game is about right away. (Remember, there are so many apps that you must grab their attention quickly).

-Get rid of the banner for the title screen (first image). Save the banners for the following 5 other images you will put on itunes. Also, you don't have to describe how it looks, people will see the graphics are colorful. (People tend to put the phrase "colorful graphics" on their images as a space filler if they don't know what to say about their game.) Only describe what the potential buyer can't see, like how it is "easy to play" or "fast pace and fun". The words you should use are "freedom", "easy", "fun", "addictive", or any verbs that appeal to what they are looking for in your game.

-You probably know this already, but show a progression through your game with the rest of the images you have for the screen grab. The next screen grab should show how the game starts, how the controls work, the next should show one of the mechanics of the game, the final one should show what it looks like when you win. Usually, from what I see on itunes, the final screen grab shows other lesser but important features like other options, and other level types and variety that promise "hours of fun" or "endless options" or "20 great levels", things like that.

I have observed many screen grabs on itunes and this is what I noticed to be a pattern. I hope this helps you.

I agree on that: Don't say colorful graphics, but show them.

If I see a picture grey and brown and somebody tells me "colorful graphics", I think either he is lying or in his opinion those shades of grey are "colorful". No thanks.

Giraffe looks good, but change up the letters and make them more vibrant and colorful.

Also agree with Jake too that you should get rid of the chalkboard backdrop, it's drab looking, and go for a colorful background, but one that doesn't drown out the character and lettering.

    Otherwise looking great!

And Gamesalad is having trouble with image embedding, hopefully it will be fixed soon!

Thanks guys I will take your feedback and apply it to the image. I felt that it was missing something and I will be sure to work on it and give an update. I feel like I'm headed in the right direction but with all the
Suggestions above, it will be all that much better.

    Thanks again.
