Blank icons in the App

It seems that the GameSalad software is not giving icons to my apps. If I add the icons manually, will my app still work?

There doesn't seem to be a way to specify the 114x114 icon during the publishing process.

Bah, the app will not work if you manually modify the icons.

I had to reject two apps that were in review.

Now I can't proceed until this issue is fixed.

If you uploaded a game since GameSalad 0.9.0 was released, you might want to check INSIDE the app to see if your icons were actually created.

Your icon is there, click the ItunesArtwork file in the contents and your icon will show up. If you make an adhoc you will see that the icon does show

Ha ha... so it seems that I rejected the binaries for nothing? :)

I'm trying to recreate the binaries, but the publishing server is having trouble. Let that be a lesson to you... you cloud computing lovers out there.

Hhahah, how far in the review process were they?

@photics: I was wondering that same thing myself, I can see that we can upload a 512X512 icon through the publishing process, but not a 72X72 or 57X57 so I assumed that it would generate one for you.

@Arton, I clicked on the itunes artwork file, and the icon is there, but don't we need that smaller one to be there as well? Because the 57X57 one is blank...

I've not done a store build yet. But on a dev build, the 512 is scaled to 57 (or 114 on retina I assume).

Not sure I want any auto scaling though.. in the past we have always designed and made our icons natively at the correct size.

Depends how good the scaling is I guess.

If the 57x57 icon shows on devices through an ad hoc build, I don't see why it wouldn't work when you upload to the app store. Its probably something that they have to fix but I wouldn't worry to much about it, your icon will most likely show

Hmmmm this concerns me, I don't want to pull my apps, but this is something I don't want to find out come release day.

If Gamesalad could clarify that would be great.

So If Gamesalad could please clarify this that would be nice !

The average wait time to get an app approved now is 12-14 days, and come the day of a review, I would hate to see my app rejected over an fricken icon.

    Please clarify!

Okay guys, so I had a chat with TshirtBooth about this, and I had an "ad hoc" version of his app on my iphone, and the icon showed up perfectly.

When I opened up the package contents to see if the icon.png was blank, it is, so I guess that's just how it is, and I guess they png crush it or something... but we should be okay.... fingers crossed!

jesus, im glad I read this thread! haha, I've just noticed the icons and was going to reject my apps!

@tshirt, you're just saying that because you have a couple of HUGE titles coming, and you want to be able to feel as if your on the safe side....haha jkjk. Yeah, I wouldn't frustrate over this, GS does their own things in weird ways...if we see a blank file in there let it be, as long as our games come as we want them to when they finally hit the store!

    Yup, tshirt was exactly right

Codemonkey's response: "It wont affect it. Those are pngcrushed."

I lost two days on the free version of Arcade Action...
...and one day on the free version of Annoyed Tomatoes.

Damn sorry Photics, that's why I was scrambling for an old build of an app, but I always delete them once uploaded to the app store, but lucky, Tshirt reminded me of the build of Zombie Drop, and the icon was perfect on the phone.

Phew, what a relief! You had me in a tizzy Photics! :)

How about the blurry icon?? Anyone knows how to fix it??

Try to resize your original icon (72x72, 114x114,...) to 512x512 with photoshop, using exact, not bicubic. ;) So when GS will resize it, no blur;)

I use a 512x512 and it's made with photoshop. And I extract it as .png in 72dpi

You have to make your icon in 72x72 (for an ipad) or other size for other devices. and resize it with photoshop in 512x512 with the EXACT option (not bicubic)

Did anybody ever had the problem where the icon becomes a blanc icon on your iPhone after a while? I created a small game, got it on my iPhone for testing, everything works but a day later the icon is blanc. The game itself still runs.
