Smooth actor rotation with the accelerometer?

I am trying to smoothly rotate a sliding object based on the accelerometer only when the object is in the air. I have messed around with vectortoangle but I can't get anything working. I have been using Rotate to Angle under a constraint that is always in effect, and this is not working either.

I would love some help with this, maybe I should use sine? I want the object to rotate when the iPhone is in an upright landscape position and when tilted right or left.

This would be relatively simple in code but I can't figure it out in GameSalad.
