BRING BACK 8! BRING BACK 8! BRING BACK 8!

It is clear from reading this forum day and night since the release of GameSalad version 0.9.0 that there are far more people unhappy and in many ways totally screwed by this latest update.

Every software on the planet has bugs and issues, and even though GameSalad 0.8 had its share of bugs, it was a functional tool that so many of you used to create amazing games!

But now that there is a new version (0.9.0) production for most of use has come to a complete standstill!

It is clear that GameSalad being a young company felt a great deal of pressure form its users and investors to release the next update. But at what cost?

It is clear that the team or who ever is leading the team has just shot them selves in the foot by releasing a version of their software that is so flawed that that's all that can be discussed in the forum for days, and now even some of GameSalad's top users like the guy who made "bumps" are completely screwed!

So why release a version that is clearly untested and incredibly flawed?

-Pressure from a few bitching forum posts saying "we want an update"?
-Pressure form investors to move faster and do more?
-Pressure from competition?
-Being inexperienced and having a bit of an ego?

What ever the reason, GameSalad, has truly hurt and army of fans! And their lack of transparency and communication on all these important matters is hurting the companies future severely!

GameSalad, you guys are young! You guys are still in beta! Stop acting like you are some big corporation only to trip up and make a huge mistake like this. Slow down! Do it right! There is no sense in releasing a version that in the end screws everyone over in a big ways, both GameSalad and its users.

Please start learning to communicate with your users more, and without the B.S. speeches and fluff you guys have been posting. Just talk directly to your users. Tell them what you are doing, and what you are doing wrong. You are not IBM or Apple, one day you will have a team of PR people watching what you say. But for now cut the crap and talk to us.

And on a final note, which again touches on the lack of real communication coming from GameSalad. Where is the fix to all this? Production for most of us has come to a complete stop! Why not give some of us the option to turn back time and use 0.8.0 a version that actually worked! That would at least get some of us back up and running again, while you guys work on a more stable release.

Who are you to judge a corporation like GameSalad in such a manner? "Stop acting like you are some big corporation"??. How do you define a "big corporation"? Thousands of users is not enough?
And they did NOT "released a version that in the end screws everyone over in a big ways". This is a relative concept. There are a LOT of users who liked it this way. This is just an opinion.

What is it with you and billion dollar companies?
You can be damn sure they are far more educated than you in the matter of communication. They have people who are graduated from the related schools. And what the hell are you talking about? You are saying that "if you become big like IBM you can f*ck your users, but don't do it now"? Are you having some sort of cerebrum collapse?

Instead of ordering more productive, intelligent, constructive and do-gooder people than you, go learn some coding and use other softwares. We don't need people like you. And stop acting like you were so good at 0.8 and 0.9 ruined everything for you..

Anyone who has been using GS for over a year and remembers the 0.7 to 0.8 upgrade is not complaining - trust me!

I worked like a dog to get three or four games/updates done before 0.9 came out because I knew that it would have bugs that would get ironed out in 0.9.1, 0.9.2 etc. That's the way it's been since the beginning and I would bet it will stay that way. The coders at GS have likely been working around the clock to get 0.9.1 ready and it will not be perfect either (just as 0.8.9 was not perfect). So instead of being negative and asking for something that is just plain not going to happen (going backwards), I suggest we identify the bugs on this forum in a civil manner so that there will be fewer bugs in 0.9.1, 0.9.2 etc.

I think that GameSalad should have more of a presence on the forum. Actually have one person to answer all questions. Many of the posts are repeats because nobody gets a definitive answer coming from GS. I know they are busy fixing things but they can assign each mod a set period of times to answer questions. It seems like the mods have to check with someone before they can answer a question and that is where the delay is. Just be open and honest and most people are reasonable and will understand.

Ok, I'm All for bringing back0.8.9 for a month. Honestly its cause i'm dead in the water until i can come up with a new mac to finish my project on which unless the latest beta test brought out something bad was going to be submitted to Apple. I'm screwed now because they will not allow legacy. I truly don't think they give a damn either.

What can i do? Bitch and get a refund because their software no longer on my system? I can't do that unless i want out of GS. Which i don't. I actually want to upgrade to pro for the discount. But how stupid am i to do that if i cannot even publish with my current setup?

What really pisses me off is adent42 said in the web side of things post. legacy publishing could be made available if there was a demand. There is a demand. Maybe not from everyone but there is a demand and quite honestly a need for some.

It also blows my mind that this community, who is almost always very supportive, really in general doesn't seem to care about those who want legacy publishing. Some are actually defending GS for not allowing it.

I know it's no one else's problem that i have not worked for two years and cannot afford to buy a mac but It would sure be nice to be able to have the option to finish publishing so that i can possibly make enough to buy a "real" mac.

Please GS let us have legacy publishing. adent42 said he could make it happen. Its been allowed before. it makes no sense why you wont allow it now.

Exactly. Everyone who is complain g has either forgotten about the previous releases, wasn't around then, or just has no idea what goes into software development

Dual publishing would have been great, but they gave us plenty of noice it was goof away. If I was near the end of development I would have made sure I had a completed .8.9 build ready to go in case there were bugs.

I think Legacy publishing is an absolute must, and should be implemented as a priority.

Its just common sense that if your releasing a new version of the software, and it might have teething problems (lets face it, its a GS regular occurance) then people need to be able to fall back on the previous version in case the problems are that great that it makes it difficult to use the new software properly.

Also...and heres an even bigger reason... people paid for and entered into a contract to use a system that worked a certain way up until 0.8.9, and now no longer works that way. For people that are happy to move onto 0.9 and follow the new route, then its not a problem... but for others, that were developing software, based on what they were allowed to do in previous versions up to 0.8.9, the new forced changes, and lack of 0.8.9 publishing now makes their accounts unusable.... as they can no longer publish... yet theyve still got outstanding time left on their paid accounts.

So by no longer allowing 0.8.9 publishing, GameSalad has effectively breached its contract with users who still have paid up versions of Express and Pro... as its now stopped them from being able to publish under the terms that they agreed to, and paid for.

0.8.9 publishing needs to remain as an option at least until all the Express or Pro accounts have expired, or all those users have agreed to migrate across to the new system, otherwise GameSalad is in breach of contract, and putting itself in a position where it could potentially be challenged with a Class Action lawsuit if anyone were to feel so strongly about it.

For the record...Ive moved onto the new Pro (but would still like to see a paid custom splash screen option), so it doesnt really affect me... but I can see why theres quite a number of voices calling for 0.8.9 publishing to remain, and it seems like very bad judgement on GameSalads part to completely cut it off, with no warning, or phase out period.

Actually they gave us no actual notice. they kept saying it's coming, It's coming. it's almost here for two months.
we asked over and over can you please give us an idea of when it will be ready. and all we could get was it's almost here.

@cbt the only thing they have said in my emails is there is currently no support for legacy publishing.

The question here is, if there will be an update 0.9.1 why don't you tell de community RIGHT NOW, what will include and when to expect it.

We all know about bugs, testing, what the hell, we do bugs on our games also but if someone asks me when I'll have the next version and what will include, I can tell and with GS it's always silence.

GS is not even replying to the support tickets of paying customers.

I use both GS and Unity and although I like a lot the simplicity of GS for some applications, it's becoming very frustrating on how GS handles his developer community.
