WOULD A INTEGER BE SAVED WHEN IPHONE APP IS CLOSED?

I have a image when attribute (integer) is changed to 1 it will change image.

I am unsure when the app is closed will it stay at the changed image?

    How would i go about doing this? Im not 100% sure how to do this as i have never tried doing this.
