Quick Question on Saving

Alright,

If I'm making an adventure game, do I need to save every single attribute every time anything happens in my game and recall every single one of them at game load?

    1) Maybe have save points? and save each attribute needed there?
    2) Yeah you would want to reload each at the start of the game for sure

    I have like 550-600 different attribute changes in the game, when things are collected, been used already etc.

    The game is completed fully apart from saving, so do I have to go along and save everything or is there a simpler way of doing it?

    Gonna fill my mac in if I don't work this out soon.

    I made something that saves every attribute (took an hour) in every room and when game starts it loads every attribute (another hour) and it just messes my game up bigtime when it loads again.

    It makes my inventory full of stuff and all doors later on in the game are unlocked.
