Hi Everyone,

I have had requests to create a graphic pack for people starting out. This is the first in a series (if this one does ok) which is for a top down (overhead) game set in World War 2.

With this you can make a shooter with a plane, jeep, soldier or tank as the main player or it can be a mixture of them all. It cold also be used in a tower defense or RTD game.

All files are in PNG format sized with resolution in mind (e.g. 128 x 64) so that there will be no split pixels and all are a decent size.

I have a WWII plane shooter which I have put on hold, but when I go back to it I might have to buy this pack! Looks good!

    @utopian - thanks, I thought I was going mental

@gazjm - to be honest, it worth it just for the animated explosion as you can use it over and over again...

Your Images are awesome! But If People Us them will have very similar Games!
Maybe is better to create more standard stuff.

Btw, Whats the average price for the images you created for those games in you site?
  • debugdesigndebugdesign Member Posts: 886
Firstly someone would have to buy the pack :)

I thought the images were quite generic as they could be the enemies and you could have a more stylized main player...

Also, its good for people just starting to use GS as they can make it with these graphics and have something which looks half decent in no time.

here's what the explosion looks like as an animated gif (it will be faster in GS)

Ian has put together a great pack full of images that came at the right time for a project that I am working on so I have purchased it.

    Thanks Ian

I think more planes would be a good idea. Could then make a 1942 clone.

I would be happy to do an update pack if enough people bought it. I have had one request for a 'modern warfare' pack too...

but if this doesn't sell there wouldn't be much point as it takes days to put together and I get nothing for it.

I would buy the pack if it had a few more planes as we would need more enemies. I would be happy to pay $49 per pack.

This is not quite what I'm looking for, but I think that the general idea is exciting. I went online looking for RPG sprites and it was such a mess. It's very hard to find affordable, quality and legal artwork. So, my RPG game has been on-hold. I started creating the artwork myself. It was very tedious. HA HA.

I think GameSalad should do something like Daz3D. They have a storefront for selling their software, but they also have artwork that's for sale. I think that GameSalad could do the same thing... sound effects, music and artwork that is specifically for game development. Daz3D is moving into that area, but for 3D games. GameSalad is 2D.

I am happy to keep creating these packs and if by 3 packs don't sell enough I will just keep doing private requests. I thought it would help the newbies create games they can get excited about.

Anyone fancy making a top down shooter this weekend...

    - Santa vs the Nazi's
    - Aliens in World War 2
    - Battle of Britain - Black Ops

$30 and your graphics are sorted!

What a great idea! I love the airplanes!

Very nicely thought out with a variety of images that can be used in all sorts of games:

    - an animated explosion
    - numbers that can be used with custom font demo templates
    - background tiles
    - boxes, crates, etc.

My only suggestion would be to include a "civilian" actor (i.e. one without a rifle).

    Definitely a bargain at $30!
  • debugdesigndebugdesign Member Posts: 886
I can add a civilian if it would urge you to buy it... :)
  • JackBQuickJackBQuick Member Posts: 524
You know you're my go-to guy for any artwork :)

I was thinking that someone could take a "civilian" character and a crate (that's already included in your World War 2 Game Pack, and make a Sokoban-like game with it. However, I realized afterwards that you will probably include different characters in upcoming art packs.

Giving Ian a free bump, he's made most of the graphics in my upcoming game, which if I ever get motivated to finish, will actually get released!
